Excellent product at an amazing price
This Topping DX5 headphone DAC is absolutely amazing. The sound quality far exceeded my expectations as to how good my Senheiser HD660S headphones can sound. Arrived within a few days. Highly recommended.

I bought a Topping DX-5 amplifier they send me some keys for a keyboard.
The last time I ordered an XA-10, they never sent it, so I finally got a refund. Let's see how my new claim goes. I don't understand how they made that mistake. Update: After showing Drop the evidence of their mistake, they send me the DX-5. The amplifier is well-built and has an exceptional sound. Highly recommended for the price.

alvarado.ray60Update: The amplifier stopped working. I don't recommend buying this amplifier. It has a nice sound but the quality control is lacking. I have contacted DROP to solve the issue but they have not contacted me back. I also contacted Topping, and they told me to change the cables and use another USB port. They also asked me for some photos, which I sent. Finally, I asked if I could send the equipment to be fixed and that's the last time I heard from Topping. I still haven't heard from DROP. So, unfortunately, my next course of action is taking both to court so they will be forced to honor the warranty.

Great combo dac/amp
search
At $220 this is a great dac/amp. Basically an improved DX3pro+ for a very similar price. The DAC is excellent, and the output impedance on the headphone outs is very low, which is good for IEMs. There is no balanced headphone out or 4.4mm jack, but otherwise a great unit. It has balanced outs on the back, so you can add a balanced amp down the road if you need to. Very clean sound with a black background. Lots of features and menu options. Nicely built.

perfect DAC/Preamp for digital sources
Excellent "sounding", good performance across the entire frequency range, sound stage is solid etc. Sound is smooth, accurate, fast and detailed, with perfect tonal balance. Basically, is a classic Topping, it measures well and has no sonic signature at all that I can detect - it's really excellent. Based on the other review, it sound like it was the wrong product, as well as being unfortunately broken. The DX5 is a DAC/preamp which supports headphones. I'm using it to connect a Linux PC running Roon via USB and a TV connected by toslink, RCA out to power amps driving ProAc speakers. The amps will be replaced at some point with ones with balanced inputs, so for me this is the perfect config, future proofed and it's performance is excellent.

Topping Dx5 malfunction.
Yo, I'm bummed. My Topping DX5 came with a broken OLED display. It has dual DACs but isn't balanced. The XLR headphone output is a fake-out—it's not balanced and has the same low power as the 6.3mm jack. Don't waste your money on it. O

n low gain (since I can't change it with the dead OLED), my Xduoo XD05 with a Burson op-amp sounds better. It's got more punch and air.

These are converters that are being used now by professional mixing engineers, Because they are as clean and accurate as $2,000 converters... And not only helps with subtle detail.... But it's a very good option for running out of the DAW into outboard gear... It may not sonically be what you're looking for.... For whatever reason. But they are crazy clean, accurate and in a lot of people's opinion actually enhance the audio in a musical way.... Maybe they're too accurate for your taste? Maybe it has more to do with the headphone amp... That has plenty of power but It's not going to be warm or old school in any way. But the convertors... Those are something special. Have you really run it through its paces by using a different headphone amp with it? Or tried using it with a good stereo/speakers? I'm planning on getting this DAC.... In one of their units. Perhaps this one
