Convenience--4.4mm is not balanced. It has slightly better cross-talk than the SE however. I've got one of these units (not from Drop) and I highly recommend it. Lots of power, 3 gain levels and really clean. On high or med gain (high is best) it powers my HE-X4's, Edition XS and HD-6XX very nicely, with room to spare. Generally I use it lined out from from a Shanling DAP when I want more power in a listening session.
