Woooooah BA15 is gonna be an interesting set. Why only a BA dedicated to the bass? It’s the most crucial frequency imo. My V14 have 4 BA dedicated to the bass and it slaps hard and deep.

League544Yeah, I like BAs. There’s something very enjoyable about them, but sometimes they sound a little hollow. I really like the visceral feel of dynamic drivers for bass.

ArtismoI really don’t understand why people hate on BAs. They say all kinds of nasty and hurtful things about the balanced armature... :(

League544I like BAs. Getting BA bass right is hard though. My opinion is Noble and Empire Ears got it right with a few of their models. Unique Melody too.

ArtismoWhy do people prefer DD for things other than bass? Some say DD sounds better than BA, but then why do most serious sets use mostly BA if not all BA. Very fascinating!

League544Yeah, and dynamic drivers are typically cheaper technology. BA is typically valued for its accuracy and linearity, but it depends on tuning/x-overs/etc. I like to feel my bass, as do many others, so some people often prefer DDs to do that work. What I like about my Hyla TE5B is the DD delivering the bass, BAs for mids, and the piezo for the highs. Purely preference.

ArtismoYesss, we must get the mestttt then we will reach the crest, the peak of the best, better than the rest, simply because of their creativity treasure chest, yes 5 x cross overs to test. I’m high bye Edit: This means that the perfect example of this unity of driver configurations is the MEST, it’s using each one to its strength.

League544Yeah, when I first saw the MEST nearly a year and a half ago, I drooled. I’m a big fan of the UM tuning and IEMs. I have Aftershokz now for when I’m out cycling or training. Bone conduction has its merits, definitely lacking in the bass department. The piezo driver seems to really excel in the mids and highs. The piezo in my TE5B is strictly a tweeter with no bone conduction properties. One thing I’ve found problematic is some companies have a hard time harmonizing different drivers, multiple drivers, and phasing issues, creating unnatural sounds in certain frequencies or timbre in instruments. My favorite all-rounder is the F- Audio Chorus with the titanium shell and collaborated with MixWave Japan. BA for bass, full range BA, BA for highs. I find the bass not lacking, the transition from lows to mids to highs natural, vocals are beautiful, and just the right amount of air and sparkle, spacious and surrounding. I recommend them if that’s your thing.

ArtismoIt’s also interesting you said BAs are “enjoyable” my FA9 I felt with “only” 6 BAs sound really enjoyable and sweet, like a velvety cake of sorts. :) so I’m assuming dynamic drivers sound muddier than BAs and why BAs are used in custom/production iems.

League544Thats interesting because several manufacturers use dynamics in customs, you can find a wide gamut of technology for customs, historically and currently, not just BA only. You seem to want to support BA only for some reason, rather than taking an objective stance on all technologies discussing pros and cons. I’m not quite sure why, but your colorful expressions are off-putting in this conversation.

ArtismoI actually endorse DDs over BAs and I think they’re better due to the low-end BAs just can’t achieve in the same quality of slam/etc. “some” doesn’t mean most. There will always be “some”, using exception-to-the-rule arguments is fallacious and a common mistake. The amount that use DDs vs all BA is staggering in relation to each other.

League544I recently picked up a pair of Shanling AE3 earbuds, which have two BAs in each ear. The bass is amazing, but way overdone. And the crossover between the two BAs leaves the midrange a bit thin and wonky. Maybe more BAs with a proper crossover would sound better.

liteon1Yeah if you’re looking for a great allrounder I’d look at the Kz ZSX they have everything you need in an iem for only 50-60 bucks.
