What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

Sorry for long story, but it was a fun experiment. engtaobao.com acts as a translation/filter/user-account for taobao international orders, and does a pretty good job, although the product descriptions are still mostly in Chinese, making it hard to find things. After lots of random searching and google translating back & forth, I found the front/"side"-printed keycap set and purchased 2. My bank called within minutes warning me that my account was being used in Shanghai. I asked them to unblock the transaction because it was indeed me ordering something. Once purchased, I translated the order details and it said "Out of Stock...Do Not Shoot!!" which I assume means do not order. It was too late since I had already paid. I logged in each day to see if the order was canceled and if I could get my money back, but it acted like nothing was wrong and was delivered in about 3 weeks. Strange bonus is that they were PBT instead of ABS as it stated in the product description. Shipping was ~$30 I think, which is fairly steep but worth it for something I couldn't find anywhere else.
I would hope massdrop customer support helps you out. I got in touch with them because one LED died on my varmilo va68, and they asked me if I would rather have 5 dollars or if I wanted to return the board, as the manufacturer didn't have extra single LEDs. I basically wrote the whole thing off and didnt answer the email, it wasn't worth the effort to me.
Interesting thing is that when my last varmilo drop arrived, I also received an entirely new va68 in addition to the two va87s I had ordered... Thanks massdrop! <3
