My Mach IV finally arrived and i pretty happy with it despite the 'nice' customs bill and delay. Antone else noticed the warranty card isn't stamped though. Does that mean there is no manufacturers warranty only Massdrops ??

Chris723I'm going to be honest with you, Massdrop has been in the blind after my watch came to me as defective. It arrived and only lasted a single day of functioning. I have contacted them multiple times and they respond the first time asking for a video proving my statement, but no response. Two more contact calls, no response. I'm honestly a bit annoyed as I love Victorinox. Since the card is not stamped, I don't know what to do on getting it fixed. I just wish Massdrop would atleast tell me they cant do anything, even if it is fucked up.

tristanabellaThis was my worry, as there's obviously no manufacturers warranty, which itself is surprising if these were supplied by Victorinox, as a non US customer if anything goes wrong Massdrop's implied warranty is virtually useless. Especially if it transpires they don't reply to warranty claims.

Chris723A representative did end up responding to me, but it does seem that there isn't a full on warranty. You could just go to a watch smith to repair any issues.

tristanabellaNot ideal, i hope you get yours repaired. I'm hoping mine remains trouble free then.

Chris723How much did you end up paying to customs?

ElmeroIf I recall it was somewhere around the £82 mark, 20% vat plus import duty plus Admin fees, still a pretty decent price all together though :-)

Chris723Decent price indeed, but still a lot going to customs. I so wish Massdrop will eventually listen and set some sort of European chapter!
Thanks for replying, mate!

ElmeroI couldn't agree more, it's sickening to have to pay this amount on top of the purchase price for virtually nothing :(

Chris723Actually that VAT is how your government pays for its functions. If Mass Drop shipped out of Europe you would still be required to pay VAT.

SkipPeAt the moment at least items shipped to the UK from Europe are not subject to VAT

Chris723That is because the VAT was already paid in that European country. All members of the EU can freely export within the union and once VAT has been paid in one country it cannot be assessed again. You are paying a VAT, but you are paying it to another EU nation.

SkipPeI know the rules thanks, born and raised in UK and lived here for nearly 5 decades

SkipPeI think the point here is not VAT (which, of course, you have to pay, literally everywhere), but customs duties (import charges), which wouldn't exist if Massdrop shipped from EU to any EU address. And yes, as you state further in the post, since you have already payed VAT wherever the EU store (Massdrop, in this hypothetical case) is located, you won't have to pay VAT within the union. So no extra charges that way.
