Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. So i decided to do sum investigating.. and it a pairs i'm write. Vortex PBT keycaps are a bit higher.. But Leopold is apparently using sum kind of low profile caps..
so i read that there are more manufactures that make Double-shot keycaps.. And that Cherry also makes or has a process where they can make double-shot pbt key-caps.. They are lower in profile..So getting a set of those key-caps would be my next present to my self. if i can ever find them hahahaha...
i do like the color and even considered getting a second set.. Just because i love the idea of Double-shot PBT who doesn't ?? hahhaah.
This would fit nicely on my next board the Kul ES-87... Here a pic showing both keycaps..
