Is the 12AU7 tube soldered to the board, or is it a consumer-replaceable component?

So basically this will add bluetooth input to an analog stereo receiver? Why would you need two aux outs?

  • This doesn't just "add Bluetooth input to an analog receiver". You can buy a cheap $15 Bluetooth receiver with an aux out for that. Generally speaking, a DAC takes full advantage of Hi-Fi (high bit-rate [24-bit or even 32-bit], wide-range frequency response) digital audio and converts it to an analog signal for receivers that don't have DAC built-in. I recommend reading up on DAC. These two articles put it in fairly simple terms:

https://www.gearpatrol.com/tech/audio/a35407650/what-does-hi-fi-mean-experts-explain/
  • I could see two aux outs being useful for any situation where someone needs to run the same audio out to two different inputs. For example:
  • 1 x Stereo Receiver and 1 x Headphone/monitor amp
or
  • 1 each to two separate powered speakers, etc.

btmert86You are correct, just Bluetooth with an 10 year old ess dac chip. All Bluetooth receivers have some sort of DAC...the one built into the Bluetooth chip, and an amp for at least line level output. This unit has no other digital inputs so it's essentially an higher quality Bluetooth dongle.
