Just finished listening to The Beatles White Album Super Deluxe via Chromecast Audio -> DarkVoice 336SE -> 6xx. It’s a winner. I have an RCA 6AS7 and Shanguang Treasure 6SN7 tubes in the DarkVoice. This is a fantastic combo. Lush tube sound, detailed and controlled low end with mids and highs that are just right. While everything I listen to with this setup sounds excellent I especially enjoy rock and jazz recorded in the 60s and 70s with this setup. The guitars, horns and vocals are sublime. As has been written on this site many times before, the DarkVoice and 6xx are made for each other. If you have one and not the other you are missing out. In in addition to the Beatles re-release I have also really been enjoying Van Morrison’s ... It’s to Late to Stop Now(Live) vol II, III & IV and Oliver Nelson’s Blues and the Abstract Truth. These album just sound right when the air is cooling and the leaves are falling.

" I have an RCA 6AS7 and Shanguang Treasure 6SN7 tubes in the DarkVoice." They are much better than the stock tubes. I have some Tung Sol tubes as well, but i'm pretty satisfied with my current setup and haven't bought any new tubes in a while.

I like the RCA 6AS7, has that special something-something than say a Svetlana! I have a Tung Sol upfront and enjoy it just a bit more than the Shanguang but both are fantastic tubes! Enjoy the music my man!

I have a Tung Sol 6SN7 that sounds good with th RCA 6AS7. I find this combo provides a brighter sound signature. Not sibilant but definitely more treble forward and clear than the RCA with the Treasure which I think really fills out the low end. I’m definetly enjoying th music. I hope you are too.

Cool, that's exactly what I hear between the two tubes! I felt the Tung Sol was definitely more 'tubey' sounding than the Treasure, which can sound a bit solid-state-like. The RCA 6AS7 sounds nice and warm in the mid-range with nice bass levels. The Svetlana is very close to the stock tube, still a great tube but maybe not for my taste!

I listened to the album a bit. Are they remastered tracks? Tracks are old, with ancient recording tech so was curious. I’m still trying to figure out if this album goes better with planners (4XX) or dynamic (6XX). Have you’ve tried any other headphones?

These stood out to me from left and right channel separation. I'm not a big Beatles follower and this is my first time hearing the White Album in full. Ob-La-Di Back in the USSR Piggies-Instrument separation is incredible here. Don't Pass Me By I'm now listening to The Beatles: Past Masters on iTunes. What do you think about this album collection @mindhead1 ?

It's a good compilation of their 'older' stuff. It's a good way to get familiar with their music. I'm not a huge fan, but I tend to prefer the full albums from Revolver on. Really all their stuff is good. Dig into their catalog and enjoy.

Definitely a matching pair. I am also enjoying the rolling tube combination with my 6XX :-)

Recessed 2 pin connectors
[image] As many of you are probably aware of, the 2 pin sockets on the KZ IEMs are different than those on the TFZ IEMs 🙄. The KZs are smaller and rounded, and the TFZ cables do fit on the KZs, but not great (not the vice versa). I’ve read that the recessed 2 pin cables by 3rd party makers, such as the Tripowin C8, fit the KZs. My question is, do any of you know of any recessed 2 pin cables that fit the TFZs? Or do I just need to use regular 2 pin cables, and let the connection remain exposed?

Cable question:
I just received my Elex headphones and I want to listen to them, but I only have my Oppo HA-2 headphone amp with me. The HA-2's outputs are 2.5mm TRS jacks, but the Elex doesn't come with that -- it comes with XLR to dual TS and 1/4in to dual TS cords that are marked left and right. I have a cable from my Mitchell and Johnson cans that goes 2.5mm TRS to dual 2.5mm TRS connections, and that isn't marked left and right because (apparently) it doesn't matter which cup you plug these into. The question is: Can I use this cable to connect my HA-2 to my Elex cups, or is the sound going to be off?

Looking for headphones along my AKG K712 Pro
Hello, this is my first post, having some trouble figuring out the how the board works but nvm that. Anyway, I'm a musician (also have my small home studio) and a gamer, my current headphones are the AKG K712 Pro and I use Focusrite Clarett 4pre USB Audio interface. The AKG are great headphones, huge soundstage, very neutral, but sometimes the soundstage sound way too big, and sometimes the fact that they are neutral kinda ruins because they are very surgical towards everything I listen to. And sometimes a bit uncomfortable... I had a chance to listen to Sennheiser Game One headphones I liked how much more fun they were listening to music, I knew it wasn't the most precise recreation of the music but the smoothness was very pleasant to the ears, with one downside that the treble was cut bit too much for my taste. I also had the chance to record and listen with the Audio Technica M50X, which were great for studio uses and music, and also were quite fun. Anyway, cut the introduction...

Question for 58X owners..
Do any of y'all go ahead and buy the 6XX after buying the 58X just because you're interested in the differences in the sound? I just bought the 58X but after reading reviews on both, I find myself longing to hear the 6XX as well. Thoughts? Cheers!

Overwhelmed With Finding a Set of Headphones
Hello, I am somewhat new to the world of audio, but have always cared about having good sounding music and media. I am looking for a set of open back headphones primarily for gaming (first person shooters) but also want to be able to listen to music. I listen to a lot of styles from metal to jazz; so I’m looking for a well rounded sound. I don’t listen to hip-hip or electronic music much, so bass isn’t a huge concern for me. I have an old amp/receiver (STR-DH100) and use the 1/4” headphone jack. The amp then plugs into my computer. So my question is... What should I be looking at? I’m around the $200 price range but have wiggle room. I want a removable cable, open back, and comfort is important. I have ATH-m40’s and they kill my ears after long gaming seasons. So far the 6XX and 58X Jubilee look appealing. Also seen some people recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Studio (but it lacks a removable cable) as well as the AKG 7XX. Any input would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in...
