Can Drop do something about customs fees?

more_vert
Drop should see if they can add a charge for customs fees onto the order and pre-pay the fees on behalf of the customer (Amazon somehow does it, so it's possible). It really screws over the customer when we get hit with a customs charge. It's so incredibly frustrating to be excited about my order, thinking that I got a good deal on it, only to be hit with $20-30 of fees upon delivery. The duties aren't that much, usually just a few dollars but the couriers charge a brokerage fee of up to $25usd! And sometimes it delays the order if they can't accept payment upon delivery. I've only ever ordered once from Drop and this is the main reason I haven't ordered again. I know it's not Drop's fault, but I would gladly order tons more stuff, if I had the ability to pay a fair amount for customs duties and avoid the courier fees.

Agreed. In addition to the taxes (fine & expected) are the unknowns as you've stated - the service fees. To make matters worse, Drop sends orders in separate packages/shipments. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, however - when you get multiple small packages and pay the service fees on every package, they can add up. An order with three inexpensive items (if shipped separately) suddenly becomes not such a good deal...
