DROP + GRELL OAE1
Launched earlier this year in a limited-edition run, the OAE1 Signature is our first pair of over-ear headphones made by the legendary Axel Grell.
Now, we’re bringing the OAE to a broader audience—with a few small but important changes. The most noticeable change is the subdued black finish. Complementing that finish, there are now large Left and Right indicators on the dust covers inside the earcups to help with orientation and placement. Beyond the aesthetics, the clamping force of the headband has been reduced from 3.5 N to 3 N (Newton Meters) for a slightly more relaxed fit. Finally, the OAE1 will include a single sided 6.3 mm TRS cable with an indicator stripe to help reduce cable insertion errors. Most important, however, is what’s staying the same: the sound. The tuning is identical with the original OAE1 signature.
The Drop + Grell OAE1 Headphones launch on November 13th, 2024. The initial quantity will be limited as we work to ramp up production.

Don't currently need a 2nd pair but it is tempting as the OAE1 has become my go to, having ousted my HD660S2, Neumann NDH30 and Beyerdynamic Amion Home. Guess I did drink the Kool-aid. : )

Grill website says the following about OAE1:
Extremely low tolerances for frequency response, left-right deviation and distortion.
Should we expect close left-right driver matching in this run?

I didn’t jump on the original drop, so I’m kind of excited to see them back. Were they passable, or more like hard pass-able?

I do have Grado Sr80e and Beyerdynamic DT990 pro 80 and 250 Ohms, and a bunch of iem's so do you think I honestly could skip those? (Everything is Flac files) and dedicated Schiiit DAC and Amp

MartyMMy main headphone rig is a Schiit Modi 2 Uber and Magni 2 and the Grells are fine in that rig. If you don’t already have the 6xx or 58x, I might go with one of those first (less money, less quirky design, and proven track record—my 6xx get the most use of all my headphones). But at the cheaper price point of the Grells now, they could be worth a tryout. I don’t know that you’d be missing out on something significant if you skip the Grell option. It’s more, to me, nice to have for a different taste than a must have. If a Grell-based design is something you want to try but have never tried before, and you don’t have unlimited budget, I’d favour the 6xx.

Trying to add Topping LA90D amp to Topping A9D preamp
Any help would be appreciated...I added an amp to my streamer, dac, headphone amp/preamp system and am now not getting any music through the headphone jacks on the preamp - the specifics: Wiim Pro Plus - optical connection to - Topping D50 iii dac - TSR to XLR connection to - Topping A9D headphone amp/preamp (all worked fine as a headphone amp until I tried adding:) - XLR connection to - Topping LA90 D amp. Amp switches are set to bypass, stereo, low gain. In this configuration, I am not getting any music to either my SE or XLR headphone jacks. I made sure I switched the A9D to "preamp" and "xlr" modes. I have no idea what I might be overlooking or missing...any thoughts would be deeply appreciated! Thank you.

Mic not working pc38x
I just got my pc38x in the mail today and the out put is quiet but fine and I'm happy. But the mic will not work when on my Xbox series and I was wondering if this issue can be resolved or if the head set is not compatible with Xbox.
