I originally found Massdrop due to my interest in Mech Keys - and it's been great for growing this hobby for me. Over time I've been excited to discover new audio products, outdoor gear and more. As Massdrop expanded into Cooking, Board Games, and more I've been really excited to see my interest in these areas mirrored by the great tastes of the Massdrop community organization and my purchase history has reflected that. I have to say I'm pretty sad by this new direction -- cutting down on the number of communities to focus on the 'most popular products'. Honestly there are only so many Mech Keyboards, Earphones, Speakers, etc. you can own before ones lifestyle is filled up. I know mine is on these types of products and I've spent quite a lot of money with this site. Pretty certain my interest in and engagement in Drop.com is certainly going to decrease as there's now substantially less to discover here, and I own pretty much everything I need for the foreseeable future in these 'core' categories. Additional communities were a great way to stay engaged as the site grew and expanded. This reminds me a lot of what happened with Fab.com right before the site went from a great place to discover new and innovative design products to a what it became, ending group buys and focusing on the 'core' much less engaging offering... I left and so did a lot of other customers. I hope Drop.com reconsiders and stays close to its true core, expanding products and communities and experimenting with new ideas and products. This new approach might be good in the short term for putting a few more points on the margin by consolidating on 'core' products, but in terms of growing active users and keeping loyal customers like myself engaged, I suspect it's going to end badly.
