We received a couple of the pre-production samples of the SHIFT last week. This is one of the key milestones for getting the keyboard ready for mass production.
Here is a side-by-side photo showing our original SHIFT design and the new updated one.

Our next steps are to update the firmware on the new SHIFT along with ensuring the various mechanical / electrical parts are to spec.
I’m pretty excited about checking off this step and we will be updating as we hit more milestones.
Let me know what you think in discussion!
Bad spacing and alignment, I have no words for the numpad, you guys couldn't figure out to seperate the ins, home, pgup, del, end and pgdown keys??? I have no idea what space alien layout this is but for a person who actually uses these keys shockingly often, I definitely won't be getting this anytime soon. You guys can do better, hope to see a revision in the works.
Had a chance to try this out after a colleague purchased it and I have to say this is THE WORST "full-sized" mechanical keyboard Ive ever used and given the option of this or a cheap membrane Logitech Id take the money this cost and buy five of the Logitech's. The alignment is way off and the spacing is just awkward and terrible as is the modified layout. The arrow keys are the worst thing about this keyboard and are misaligned and placed in the way of the chopped zero which makes the number pad unusable for data entry because you're constantly hitting the arrow key instead of the zero or just hitting them both. If drops mission was to create a compact keyboard then they've failed and overshot the key count by about twenty keys. If the mission was to create a solid full-sized keyboard that comfortable for typing again they failed. This isn't a compact or a full-sized so who exactly was this intended for? Its like the intent was to please everybody and failed to please everyone but the few who like a compact but want the 10 key but not for actual function over just to say they have them. I have to say though it could have been a lot worse had they used the dumpster fire that is the original design so even they realized how ridiculous the layout was and tried to fix it. Come on guys you can do better than this!
I love it. This is like the FC980M. I won't use a full size keyboard for ergonomic reasons, but I would buy this in a heartbeat. Too bad I JUST bought the ALT. I like the second one much better.
Huge fan of the DROP ENTR (Halo Orange) as my home desktop keyboard. Looking forward to this release as I would love to get the same feel for my work keyboard, I need the 10Key extra for work needs. However, I have no need for all the RGB shenanigans (I'm old and a grumpy cotton-headed ninny-muggins). Worse case I'll just buy the Christmas tree one and turn everything off, but am interested if there be an option of an ala carte kit where I could choose to ignore the pieces I don't need and build myself?
Guvna@steven_schuhly, yep ENTR has only the white backlight, which is why it works for me. I've been using it for a while now and am very happy. I did end up ordering the SHIFT, which is winging its way on a freight truck to me as I type. I decided to pay the money and I can just ignore the color change function. Very excited to try it out as it has those lovely HALO True (see I learn!) switches.
