I have both and definitely prefer the brighter CREE.

I prefer the cree because it is brighter but... the other is a much more natural warm light
The Nichia LED has a higher CRI... meaning that I can use it as a small off-camera light to help the colors and 3D shape of an object “pop” a little more in photography. I also think that it makes it slightly easier to see the difference of different colors and hues, like if I drop something small in a patch of grass. Lastly, I like that it makes the lowest brightness setting a little lower and more gentle... better for using around the house without shocking the wife or annoying the cat. Though for general walk-around use either one will light up a path, and some people won’t see much difference. The Cree light is a smidge brighter, but at max settings there’s not much of a difference.

I ordered the warmer Nichia to try and get a more natural look and to possibly see a more true color of the thing I am illuminating but if I ordered again I would get the Cree. I realized 99 percent of the time I just needed a sharp bright higher temperature light to see what I am doing. The Nichia is a little too warm and yellow for my taste after using it for a few years. One other thing, these flash lights are so small they get lost easily, I would recommend some type of tether if you keep it in your pants pocket. Hope this helps..!

This is really a preference issue, as well as the intended use case. I personally opted for the CREE.

It depends on what you are looking for. The CREE is the brighter option, while the Nichia is only slightly less bright, but is a warmer color of light.
