Is $1000 IEM worth it?

more_vert
I have been playing with Headphone and IEM for the past few years, and i mostly spend my money on over ear headphone. I own the HD 660S and the DT177x go. For IEM, i usually don't spend much on them, I own the Pioneer se-ch9t, Tin T3 and AK x JH audio michelle limited. I recentlly want to upgrade/ get more IEM to my collection, the one i am most interested is the Campfire Andromeda, but the price tag is double to most of the gears that i own. Are they worth the price?

Well, it depends. Are they worth it to you? The OG Andromeda is known for being relatively neutral with a low treble peak. It's very fast and quite resolving, with the only real drawbacks being the BA timbre (sounds unnatural to some) and not as much heft as some of the dynamic driver IEMs. The new 2020 refresh is anecdotally an incremental improvement. A lot of people have dumped their old Andromedas in a fit of nervosa; you may be able to snag a used pair for cheap if you don't mind buying used (and obviously exercising a little cleaning on your end). I will say the Andromeda is a standard in the IEM industry for a reason. If the price is too high to swallow, I'd say buy the Drop HA-FDX1. It's much cheaper and is pretty good.

dcha12Thank you for replying, I do not mind, even like the sound of BA drivers. I just need to swallow the price of andromeda because it is more expansive then my favorite over ear the HD 660s
