Yama Mountain Gear 2p tent

So, I was wondering why very few companies that make gear out of cuben make it to mass drop? We should push the industry into accepting DCF as the future of backpacking and Yama Mountain Gear is a great company.

Gen and company make great stuff for sure. Doubt they are able to manufacture enough quanity for a drop. They are tiny compared to ZPacks and Elightened Equipment. With wait times from them they have no need to discount their wares either.

Niche in an already niche market. Look how small the discount is when ZPacks does a drop here, less than 10%. Then when you consider that they ship free in the CONUS, and Massdrop charges shipping you save nearly nothing. Cuben/DCF prices are off putting. I am biased though. Not a fan of cuben. To me spending a lot more money on something that only saves a couple of ounces in say, a shelter, takes up more space than a silnylon variant. Also too translucent, though the camo helps with that, but I don't want a camo shelter, and frankly, to me, looks like a crumpled mess of wax paper. Of course it is great to have options and people free to spend their money how they see fit. Just my free opinion, worth every penny.

@Crookedfoot Thanks for the post! We have reached out to Yama Mtn. Gear and haven't had luck working out something that makes sense. Same thing with HMG and some others.
@JerkyKen is right in that any company dealing with DCF has very low margins and therefore little wiggle room to work with us. Usually the advantage of working with us is streamlining production and material orders, however DCF is so supremely expensive that it overshadows any marginal gains in production. Zpacks, Lukes, etc - we've offered Cuben before but at very very low discounts. We're doing the best we can, but as long as there is a monopoly on DCF production/distribution, I do not see any meaningful improvements in the near future.
