Adventures in cable cutting

I've recently went through the process of removing the attached cables on my Sony MDR-V6/7506 headphones and replacing them with female audio jack. Once I got the hang of what to solder, the process was fairly straight forward. I needed to use a Dremel tool to widen the hole for the audio jack. I got some minor scratching around the area but I think it came out looking pretty good.
In addition to being able to use any audio aux cable to attach the headphones, I found that a Bluetooth transceiver works just as well. Once synced up to my phone, the transceiver effectively makes the headphones wireless. The transceiver even has a microphone so I can answer calls on my phone.
I was wondering if anyone else out there has worked on a similar type project. I'd be curious to know what headphones you detached the cable from and how much effort was involved. I'd be interested in hearing both successes and failures alike.
The next pair of headphones I plan on attempting this type of project with are the Beyerdynamic DT770. I'm a huge fan of these cans but the cable can be a bit of a pain. I'd love to hear from anyone who has removed the cable from a pair of DT770s

Just a follow up post. I've gotten pretty good at removing the cable from the Beyerdynamic DT series of headphones. Next project will be mini XLR (based on the suggesting of previous commentor)
The one caution I'd have doing this is that I'd want a locking connector. A nice set to use would be TA3:

I've used these on some other projects and they're quite solid. Not that much bigger than a 3.5mm TRS, but I'd still want to check the available space to make sure it would fit.
Thanks for the links. I'm going to give this a try.
I'm really interested in replacing my MDR-7506 cable. Are there any tutorials for this operation you would recommend?
I used the tutorial I found on the Head-Fi forum: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sony-mdr-v6-detachable-cable-mod.606937/
The example used is for the MDR-V6s but they have the same build as the 7506s so the wire layout is the same.
Good luck with your cable replacement
Awesome! Thanks.
There was a recent in-depth post from another user about modding the TH-X00s to convert to removable cables: https://www.massdrop.com/talk/8056/how-to-fostex-th-x-00-detachable-cable
Thank you for the post link. I'll definitely check it out.
