ohsigmachiVery cool device, but the output looks like it's a headphone amp. That's the problem I'm running into. There are plenty of BT DACs + Amps. And plenty of BT only DACs. What makes my use case niche is the combo of USB and BT, without an amplified output. May be a unicorn.

GunsOfBrixtonUsing an HP amp to feed a full size amp is really no issue. I've run several smaller T style amps off of my phone through my Fiio Mont Blanc and it actually sounds really good.

ohsigmachiYeah, the more I think about it, the more I think you're right. It's the mW vs watt scale I didn't consider. Tripling the output of a source in mW seems trivial in the context of an amp putting out watts of power. As long as the headphone amp isn't introducing much noise, it might actually benefit a low wattage amp like the mini2013 slightly.
I guess I'm still scarred by my early experiences before I had a clue how an amp worked. (Ah, the good old days!)
GunsOfBrixtonDon't get hung up on "double-amping" it's all voltage and current if you keep some things in mind:
1) If the first amp sucks, the second amp only makes it worse (sucks = noisy)
2) Too much gain (by way of amp circuits) can over drive an input and lead to clipping. This isn't a problem in most cases and you will know if you've over driven the second input... it's sounds like a distorted mess.

ElectronicVicesThat first one was my big worry, but I think I'm over it. I have definitely introduced noise and distortion problems in the past, but I was much less experienced then. I agree, the scaling of the power here will be fine.
I have a reflexive "no double amping" response because of something dumb I did once on that front. I won't go into detail because... well, it makes me look bad.
I'll just say that the maximum power handling spec is there because of "adventurous" people like me ;)
GunsOfBrixtonNothing wrong with making mistakes, as human beings the mistakes are often the best teachers. I've been into PC based audio so long that my first configuration was the analog 3.5mm output from my SoundBlaster 16 sound card into a Sony Mini-disc recorder. I had to play the .mp3's and record in real time to the MD (USB did not yet exist in consumer PC's). My first digital transfer was to mini-disc as well, Sony later provided an application to transfer to mini-discs digitally. Flash memory was still insanely expensive at the time.
