Replacement DROP CRTL board LEDS?

more_vert
I've had the DROP CTRL for a bit over a year now, and one of the LEDS started changing to an incorrect color (tried flashing multiple times, seemed that the LED was no longer capable of the color white, which lead to all colors being slightly off). As of today it started flashing red on and off, until finally it has died completely. I was wondering if there was somewhere I could get a replacement LED so that I could remove the old one and solder on the replacement? Thanks, James

We're definitely gonna need a clear close-up pic of both sides of the individual LED on the PCB in order to know for sure, with extra focus on the back side and the 4 soldered joints connecting the LED. But yeah, this isn't uncommon and on Drop's boards it's usually down to a "cold" solder joint not making a connection on the effected color's pad (I feel like it's probably this), or the LED could have just died. If it's only a couple cold joints, you might even be able to fix it with just a soldering iron and some rosin flux paste. Just apply some flux to the bad joints, and re-wet the solder on the pad by heating it up for a second or two. When it cools, it will flow back around the PCB pad & LED leg, making an actual bond between the two. But if it's an actual broken LED, then you'll need some Flux Solder Wick, or a desoldering pump and some rosin flux paste.
