Depending from where are you upgrading and how much are you willing to spend if you are with an unlimited budget, go intel 9th gen (i mean if in the poll already theres threadripper and x series) otherwise ryzen 5 or 7 (zen+ aka 2000 series)are the better option (at least til 8th gen lowers in price), but if you can wait, i woul wait for zen 2
well, with any cpu launch i would give it about 2 weeks to let them iron out all the bugs bugs but at this point i would wait for the 2k series unless you need a new cpu today
Check these charts (specifically, the red ones, as they are from AMD). They make it much easier to see why the 1500X, 1600X, and 1700 are worth skipping.
Ryzen 5 1600 is the current BEST deal cpu providing decent 12-core performance out of a 65W processor.
Currently using this chip with an Asus B350-F Strix motherboard. Simply divine ; )
Important to note that cheaper memory kits with the same speed and timings, (that are also samsung B-Die) will have the same compatibility, still reccommend the BIOS update though.
Correct, there are those memory kits BUT I stick with what works and the ones I got from Newegg even works with a brand new 1800X installed into an MSI Titanium X370.
Just stick with the recommendations from the manufacturers and you'll have a 24/7 setup that never fails you.
