Wins hands down over the well marketed Excalibur. It's the new rival - plastic replaced with stainless steel, better viewing front panel, even heating, quiet and so easy to clean. These manufacturers have worked hard to make a high quality and enduring dehyhyrator that will last and look good for years.
I purchased the Square Rutes Cubed 8 dehydrator last year, and so far, it's been great. It's pricey, but it's all stainless steel construction should be more durable than the plastic Excalibur. And, arguably, safer, as there are some concerns about chemicals given off by plastic as it's heated.
The Raw Rutes dehydrators are made in the USA (Buffalo, NY). If Massdrop lands a deal on these, they're definitely worth checking out.
I own the excalibur. The first one i bought was DOA and had a TERRIBLE time getting a replacement from their american customer service. The device itself is analog, and is way simpler, less high tech, AND less robust than almost any other dehydrator out there. All in all I would never purchase from excalibur ever again and regard their reputation as entirely undeserved.
i own the 5 rack excalibur, it's awesome!. very even heat spread from top to bottom, easy to use and clean, very reliable
