Ok, I love, and have, an m50x. But I don't think it should be part of these types of drops. Why? They already are at an amazing price just from the get-go. But they ain't perfect. The m50x has its problems, mostly it's clamping and heat generation of the muffs (really, sound IS amazing for its price). Thus I rather see a 'premium' closed headset in a drop, than an already reasonable priced one.
I'd also prefer to see drops separated by closed and open headsets. They are so fundamentally different, that I don't think you can put them both in a poll like this.
My 2 cents.
I'm still somewhat new here... Whenever special, Massdrop-edition versions of headphones are made, are the changes from community requests, or simply ideas that Massdrop and the manufacturer decided? I ask because I can't help but wish for velour headband padding on most of these headphones (rather than pleather, which will eventually flake off)...
It's because they are what Beats are. A distorted mess. The M40X is much cheaper and much better.
Let's help people be audiophiles. Or just let them get whatever they think will make them happy.
No is not the hd 6xx or 650 should not even be compare that over shilled garabage. Id rather take mono retros vmod lp or a logitech surround sound and be content to those for under 100$ compared to the m50x are cheaply made, bad sounding headphones.. They will never live up to the hype and are better off being avoided.
exactly i mean this is an audiophile community not man's apeal or a "spend way too much money on stuff that doesn't actualy do anything well but looking admitably good and showing everyone that you just spen that much money on something that doesn't even do its main job proberly" commuity
Never underestimate the power of slick marketing. My stepson believes the Dr. Dre hype. He is convinced that they are the best sounding headphones across the range, in spite of the fact that he has never owned them. Dr Dre could put a headphone cord on a turd and people would happily spend big dollars for it.
