In the first half of the 20th century, there were many different manufacturers and models of slant razors which twist the double-edge blade to give a closer and smoother shave. In recent decades, there have been only two models available from Merkur, the German manufacturer. They were identical, save for the difference of the length and weight of their handles. In the past couple of years there has been a resurgence of slant razors with many new manufacturers introducing new models and there are now more than half a dozen different models available. Slant razors are now available in stainless steel, zamak, and high-impact plastic. Several of the new models are very inexpensive and offer the opportunity to try the advantages of the slant design without investing a lot of money.
I'm a bit surprised that so few people have signed up so far for this drop. It's a modern reproduction of one of the best German razors ever made which has been out of production for 60 years or more. It might be the best razor you've ever tried. It might even be better than razors that cost four times as much. Because it's cheap and light, use it as a travel razor. Or buy a couple and give them to your friends that you're trying to convince to try traditional shaving. Or use it to demonstrate that you don't necessarily buy the most expensive product; you buy the best product, no matter how much or how little it costs. Concentrate on the “Superfine”, not the super-cheap. And there will be no problem in buying this in Massdrop quantities because their website has a link for buying wholesale quantities. So why not give it a try?
