I've owned the m20x (incredible value) and the m50x's. In fact, I still own the m50x's, are they the best headphone....absolutely not. But I will never trash Audio Technica's m lineup, IMO they are an incredible value. Made even better by Drop, and the amazing service they provide
Just a thought, but why drop the M50's when the drop on the 70's will be the same price as the 50's MSRP or less? (vote for the 70's...or anything of higher price)
So I bought the AKG K553 Pro and I'm not disappointed. I have a friend with the M50X so I compared between them. The M50X's have a little more bass but are not very "open" like the K553 Pro. One can always add a little bass through some EQ and then the K553 Pro are perfect.
I am a DJ and have been using the original M50's for two years now. I love them with the soft earpads you can get on amazon and I did a (now not needed) removable cable mod to mine. I have beaten them up and played music everywhere from way to loud to very quiet and they perform without fail. Personally, I also have an antlion mic attachment on mine and it just adds to the personal feeling of these headphones. Everyone that I have ever handed these to has either gotten their own pair or wished they could.
I'm surprised that the Audio-Technica MSR7's don't get more love. I picked up a set at Christmas, and they quickly became one of my favorite headphones.
guys I think the mx50s are a bit overhyped in genera, yeah they are gread but I prefer the m70xs much more and the sennheiser 650s are pretty nice too.
I do prefer the m70x over the m50x but the price difference is important, and the m50x have a little more punch on the lows that makes for some people a more enjoyable experience than the m70x.
P.D. I own the m70x, awesome headphones, specially if you use them for gaming too.
