As a bassist of some 18 or so years, I can tell you that there are so many pedals out there to chose from. Everyone has an opinion that "this one pedal" is the THE PEDAL, the one that will forever change your life or at least your pedalboard. I for one am a huge fan of Electro-Harmonix pedals, been using them since I started playing. I have had the wonderful experience of meeting and hanging with Mike Matthews, founder and owner of the company. he is literally a genius, the Doc Brown of pedal making. I also love Pigtronix pedals; made by some great fellas over in NY as well.
The point I am getting at is this...bassist, guitarist, keyboardist or vocalist, doesn't matter, there is a pedal for every application. Some cheaper pedals just get it done in a way others can't. The Pro co rat is a beast for dirty, nasty, filthy distortion. You need more gain, I recommend the Big Muff by EHX.
I recently started using Earthquaker pedals on my board too; the Organizer is just endless fun!
