DecateronI think those are the Leopold PBT caps. They're nice because they're PBT and very thick. They will last longer and (subjectively) feel better to type on.
Like any other "hobby," mechanical keyboards have their own little modifications that may go unnoticed by all but the most knowledgeable. Audiophiles have their fancy headsets/amps, FLAC files, etc. Mechphiles (a completely made up term) enjoy carefully lubricating their switches, applying stickers that have very little purpose, purchasing special cases and caps, etc. It's all a preference thing, if you don't think the keycaps are you, they probably aren't. There's certainly nothing wrong with stock keycaps, just as there's nothing wrong with the ones you've linked. Different keystrokes for different keyfolks :~)
DecateronPBT keycaps are much higher quality and feel much better than ABS keycaps as well as the fact that they don't get shiny.
Some model M's from the 80's still have caps in great condition. They're PBT.
