They have a new stove coming out; remote canister Windburner which should be a very good choice for canister fuel use. Teaser photos on Adventure in Stoving’s Facebook just released yesterday
I know it's not a popular choice for the lightweight community, its loud and doesn't simmerbut the XGK doesn't even make it on a list of only MSR stoves?
If it ever did get a drop, it would be nice to see the quiet stove damper, either listed as an add on choice or in its own drop
i had one of these stoves , huge pita, noisey, unstable , difficult to adjust and way too damn heavy, get a snow peak or one of msrs dragon stoves, MSR has made some great products over the year but most of their designs are now decades old and need to be updated!
Still the plastic pumps. The sometimes referred to safety benefit versus metal pumps seems not all that clear to me in the probably exciting running liquid fuel stove + fuel leak scenario.
I highly recommend the dragonfly over the whisperlite, it has an extra valve for simmering/low. Try making a thick sauce like alfredo for fettuccine on a whisperlite, it sucks... the dragonfly is however ever slightly bigger/heavier.
If you are looking at an MSR stove and are a little clumsy (like myself) the dragonfly is extremely stable and the simmering capabilities are super useful. That being said, the whisper lite is definitely quieter.
Not quite 200 votes, but we're getting closer. I am working on a drop for the Whisperlite Universal, which is more versatile than the International while still offering the same set of features as it is basically the same stove with better fuel adaptor (Thanks @Tman84 for pointing this out).
