The m70x are monitoring headphones, I doubt we have 1000 music producers here.
I have the m70x and I'm very happy with them. Since the sound was already covered by other reviewers I thought I'd add that they have a nice, solid, no nonsense design and I find them comfortable.. They come with a semi-hard case for travel, three cords which have a twist lock so the cord doesn't disconnect from the phones unexpectedly, and 3.5mm to 1/4in adapter. I use them for rehearsing, tracking and serious listening if I want a more analytical sound with a very flat response. The Luxa2 Headphone stand looks like it was made for them (purchased separately).
Definitely like flat frequency headphones to hear how the music was made to sound. I'm guessing that M70x is even flatter than the M50x, though colourwise the DG M50 is really sexy.
Been rocking the m70x for 2 months now. Really a very different set of cans to the m50. I love the crystal clear highs and beautiful mids, I really do think a lot of m50 fans will be dissapointed with the bass. It's present, but not dominant. The soundstage is big enough to feel cosy, and the comfort is amazing. Biggest feature for me is they are great to listen to music straight from my HTC 1 m9 on about 70% volume. Bass heads I'd say look for something else, for anyone who likes linear response and wants closed back cans, go for it. Hope this review helps anyone out :)
m70x is for studio monitoring, flat frequency. If you think it will be better than the M50x, you are wrong and need to read more and learn more about sound signatures. Not trying to be 'that guy' but its the truth and dont want people to be dissapointed when they hear them. If anything the X2 should be your priority. Probably one of the best headphones in the market for under 300 bucks.

I agree the the X2 is probably the best of the bunch and a FANTASTIC and sub $300. Great bass with with good balance and a build quality that few can come close to matching. I really hope the X2 get a drop (I want, I want).
But I had the M50x and didn't care for them, yes it got bass but found them to be a bit harsh and not as clean as other options. Replaced them with the Beyerdynamics DT 770 (80 ohms version) they sound cleaner with less harshness but still bring the bass, not to mention a great soundstage for closed back headphones. The M50x lacks in that department. I'm sure I'd prefer the M70x over the M50x.
But yes the M70x is more reference and those wanting bass like the M50x or others on this list may be disappointed.
AD700 was my first "big" can, miss that soundstage and lightweight construction.
The Phillips Fidelio X2 doesn't even have the right picture.

No, it was just released, and it only launched with the black coloring.
