HD800s are always on our radar as an amazing product that we're trying to bring on for the community (I own a pair and absolutely love them).
Rest assured, we'll continue to work hard to get these on to the platform as soon as we can. Sennheiser has hinted that they're interested in dropping some higher-end audiophile headphones but unfortunately I don't have any immediate positive news to share. As soon as I have any, you'll all be the first to know.

Soo... Massdrop. Will this drop actually be a drop?
Buysonic has these on sale again, unfortunately $100 more than the last sale. My patience ran out waiting for MD to drop these and I had to buy from Buysonic. I'll be back for something else, MD was great on my AKG Q701's.
I seriously hope they do a drop. I have been wanting these for a very long time now.. just waiting for the right price so that i can afford them. Hope you can make us all happy Massdrop!!

I just checked back, and yes there's all sold out. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to order one. Good price though. Maybe MD will come through, we are over 200 poll votes and counting. Maybe MD will beat $999.99

HD 800 is a beast, but it is also very dependent on the amp you use. With a good amplifier and DAC it sounds amazing, if u use a schiit magni/modi stack, it sounds like a HD 600

If you've blown your budget on the HD800 and need a decent DAC and amp on the cheap, get a Essence STX and a Matrix M Stage.

This drop will have to go below $950 for it to be worth the trouble, and on top of that, Sennheiser has regional distributors, and are very very territorial. I wouldn't be surprised if they said no drop / no shipping outside US/ priced higher than some B&Ms.

Be prepared to drop another grand on a premium amp.
HD800s are EXTREMELY picky. I've yet to hear something that beats it's pairing with Sennheiser's own HDVA600/HDVD800.
Just 4 more votes until 200, then the MD guys can go to work and try to negotiate a good drop for us.
