why would I want these over my standard g710+ keycaps?

These caps use the doubleshot manufacturing process, wherein the legends are actually molded into the structure of the keycap with a different color plastic, meaning that they will never "wear off" or become less legible with use. These are also made out of PBT as opposed to ABS, which is a more durable form of plastic.
Anecdotally, there are many reports of broken g710+ keycaps online, so the durability factor of PBT has some real-world applicability.

lol are you serious? G710+ have one of the crappiest keycaps for mechanicals. Read about all the plastic breaking over time and people having keycaps fall out. My ducky have better keycaps then G710+ and I would replace them for these PBTs. In the world of keycaps you are comparing a corolla to a porsche

I'm leaning towards the white ones as well. With the votes between the black and white ones being so close, I really would love Massdrop forever if they offered both...and then I'd immediately have an empty wallet. Hahaha
