Product Description
Made in collaboration with our friends at Allegory, a Kickstarter-born Chicago shop dedicated to handcrafted, small-batch manufacturing, this custom leather pen wrap is available exclusively on Massdrop. Each of Allegory’s products aims to tell a story, and this pen wrap is no exception Read More
I love this wrap, and still use the six pen version every day. This is one of many deals that I miss since Drop limited their site to audiophile and keyboards, with some outdoors stuff on Amazon.
This case is equally functional and beautiful. This takes anything you're writing a notch just by making you feel like some kind of medieval monk preparing a fine writing implement.
You can’t roll it because the inside flap isn’t fitted right and it wrinkles in such a way that rolling it up isn’t possible. If they had cut it to the right size and fit it right and put rivets in the right place it might be acceptable. But even if they had, you can make a better one with $10 in supplies from a hobby/art supply store. The stitching is too tight to work to hold pens but not good enough to last. It’s already coming out and I’ve had it one day. Whoever’s selling this is laughing at us every time we drop our money on it. Beyond bad. If we had value added tax they’d get a check from the government because they have removed value from the leather they made it from.
I've ordered leather goods before from Allegory so I know what to expect in terms of the leather flexibility and finish etc. The leather is not the buttery soft or smooth type, but a stiffer and more hard-wearing type that will age well and show character in scuffs and marks. Despite the leather stiffness, it folds down quite well.
I looked at a bunch of different pen rolls before deciding on this one. It smells good, the leather is soft and supple, and the stitching is straight and strong. I love this and am considering buying another one.
