Probably great shoes, I'm a big fan of the Escalante 1.0 and these have addressed some of its problems, but these are also on sale at a few other places which have better return policies and customer service. The 2.0s will be out in August so you'll see even greater discounts then.

I have the 1.0’s which were featured here earlier this year. So my remarks are based off of those. I’ve been using them at the hospital I work at. On to the shoes themselves: I’m no runner so won’t be commenting from that angle. I’m on my feet all day in a hospital setting so was interested in how these would hold up with that in mind. And after several months now I can say I’m very pleased. I alternate between and two other brands of runners each week just so I don’t wear out anyone of them too soon. Sizing: On average I wear a 12.5 so ordered the 13s based on what I’d read about Altras. Glad I did. My feet are luxuriating in the wider toe area.  Soles: Super bouncy. Have never had shoes that were as springy as these. I’m liking it so far. These are my first pair of Zero Drops and I can see I’m going to have to acclimate. Ankles are a bit fatigued after a full day at this new angle. (UPDATE: This is no longer a problem. And having these in a rotation of other brands that do not have Zero Drop hasn’t been a problem.) Uppers: Are indeed soft. These shoes aren’t so much constructed as they are tailored. Not a bad thing if you are looking for an extremely flexible shoe. If you require more support these might not be for you. Super airy and well ventilated though if that’s important for you.  Because of the fabric-like uppers they feel like they need to be babied if I want them to last a long time. Some have reported eyelets tearing and holes developing sooner than expected because of the soft nature of the materials. If you are a frequent runner the comfort of these may justify the shorter lifespan. At $60 though, these couldn’t be passed up (Other drop). Overall, very happy with the purchase. Price for the 1.5’s: It is a bit dismaying to see a $40 price increase for these over the 1.0’s even though they appear to have retailed at the same price. Perhaps the $60 was a clearance price. Hope this all helps with your decision.

glennacGreat review glennac! The Escalante that earned Editor's Choice in the Runner's World 2017 Summer Shoe Guide has a few updates that are mostly noticed only after you slip them on. The Escalante 1.5 includes some great new features like a more functional knit with 360-degree reflectivity, enhanced breathability, improved tongue design with reflective hit, a stronger heel cup, and a sleeker shoe cradle that encourages more proficient turning. The latter proves to be super helpful if you decide to use it for track workouts or runs with a lot of turns.

NorCalRunDudeBoy, I sure hope these return. I'm definitly ready for adding another pair to my weekly rotation of shoes. Among my Adidas and other Altras, the Escalantes have become my favorites. And the soft construction allow these to be treated as slipped-ons.

No size 14. Too bad, I would have bought a pair.
