Is the desk pretty usable without the mousepad? I guess there will be two lines where the three desktop pieces meet, but I'm not sure how disruptive they will be. Would covering the lines with black vinyl tape possibly help? The main reason I don't want to use the mousepad is that I would like to have a surface I can fully clean by quickly wiping it. This applies to anything from dust to drink spills. I don't want to have to remove everything that's on top of the surface in order to wash the surface with a lot of water, whether by hand or machine.

MountainPassWe have seen people use our desk without the mousemat. Like you said, there are 3 panels that come together but there is no gap between if properly assembled.

MountainPassI just assembled mine yesterday. Currently using my Razer Deathadder Elite without a mousepad, and it feels great.

HoneyXJust be aware that the mouse's feet may not last very long that way. I still plan to use a mousepad; I just don't necessarily want one that covers the whole desk surface.

MountainPassWell, as far as wanting to clean it. Our full surface mousemat is very easy to clean with some Clorox wipes or a little soap and water. However, if it get too dirty to clean it is strong enough to throw in the washing machine. So, what have you got to loose? The mat on our desk is an amazing surface and I am sure you will enjoy it better than any standard mousepad.
