Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The cushiony pads make for a comfy long-term wear, the headband is just fine, and these are not at all heavy.... which brings me back to a great all-rounder for use in front of my hot summer fans.
This is a good price point for this very nice headphones, actually. And, after YEARS, my cable, which is the coiled version, is still intact, sound is just fine. The ONE mod I have done with these was to un-veil them by removing the foam that covers the speakers from inside the cups. Became immediately more transparent. For anyone wanting to try...start with the quarter mod*, if it's not transparent enough, increase the size of the cut-out gradually, until you get what you want with the ss. I just found that complete removal of that covering gave me exactly what I wanted.
I think this drop is a worthy chance to try a Beyerdynamics set, and a really nice Closed Back. If you haven't yet tried the Beyerdynamic ss, here's an entry level op that you can always re-sell if it's not for you.
* Quarter mod=a quarter sized round cut out of the foam covering the headphone speaker inside the cup. Some folks start with a dime-sized cut out. This mod is particularly famous in the headfi Grado community.
