re disappointed expected a higher quality product mine just came in hers a pic oh and i don’t wanna bother go to the garage right now to grab an mx cheery board later tonight ill upload a pic with that
Can't leave a review due to the tracking not being marked as delivered, but I figured I'd weigh in.
Tracking took about 2 weeks longer than the tracking said it would, but with Massdrop comes patience.
I actually ordered an OEM and was dreading having to return it for an SA, but it seems like they sent me an SA profile by accident. A happy accident, though, because it turned out quite well.
The clouds turned out quite well, very easy to see them in various lighting. The snow wasn't quite as detailed as the Drop images but was actually pretty decently done. There's a few small spots where you can see the wood stain stained the paint a yellow brown colour but this is only noticeable under direct lighting and close inspection.
My only true issue is that there's a hole near the base in the snow that allows my RGB lighting to bleed through. Thankfully the white paint mutes a bit of the light and it kind of looks like a small pond depending on the lighting.
And most importantly, it does fit my Cherry MX stems with no issue.
Overall a 4/5 for me based on expectations created by the Drop images and price per single keycap.
So this time I tried to replicate some of the product pictures on the drop page.
The angles are not perfect and obviously I don't have access to the same keyboard and caps, but I think it's close enough for what I'm trying to show.
Camera setup is the same as last time (see my older comment down a bit), but this time I used an LED ring light and also an X-Rite ColorChecker Passport, which means the colors are 99% accurate and pretty much as close to perfection as possible.

Sure, their lighting is a bit different as well, since it seems they used some sort of photo box which I don't have, but still... it doesn't explain where all the shades of blue, all the amazing color gradients and all the details are coming from that are almost completely missing from my keycap.
It's like their keycap is a full-fledged winter wonderland out of a Hollywood production with all the state-of-the-art special effects, and my keycap is a B-movie production made by students that had no access to special effects and have had to cut down costs on lighting as well.
MeloditudeThank you for illustrating this on photo, I take the same view and would like a refund based on the very dissapointing result compared to other "artisan" key-caps been offered here on MD (refer to https://www.massdrop.com/buy/hammer-lagoon-artisan-spacebar). MD should not tolerate the poor results as this seriously undermines the enthusiast.
It is okay to show the actual product and sell a keycap at this quality, but not when the actual product is nothing like the illustrated.
MunnybearYeah, I've contacted customer support to get a full refund.
I actually don't quite understand how some people even call them "perfect". Not a single cap that was posted here was even close to the one from the product pictures. You can also see that the edges are much sharper, less rounded and polished than the one cap on the drop page, so clearly that one single keycap has received lots of love and care and attention to detail.
All the others seem rushed.
I also bought all the different 4 Seasons Artisan keycaps from BKD as well. I'm scared these will turn out to be just as underwhelming as Mt. Fuji is. I hope I'm wrong...
I received my cap on July 22nd, I'm in Western Canada. Overall I'm very satisfied with the cap. I would have preferred a better wood to resin ratio and a little more clouds. Fuji looks a little less detailed than MD photos and a little more squished. There were some inconsistencies with the finish but they're very minor. I'm happy I went with the SA and not OEM, although I'm curious to see what OEM looks like. The fit on the stem is excellent. Looking at other's caps I think mine turned out pretty well. Overall I am very happy with my cap and very satisfied. I'm still deciding which keyboard and caps to use it with but I'm currently running it on this (see photos) for now. Enjoy!
ooozminOdd, I'm in Interior BC and my delivery date was set for the 19th, and when that passed it was changed to the 24th... And I'm still waiting. Unfortunately the tracking provided doesn't update after it reaches Canada so I'm kinda just left in limbo...
FailFodderVery interesting. Mine didn't appear to have been help up by customs but I'm wondering if your's has? I'm in Southern AB. I'm sure that you will receive it soon, hope so!
I was sent an SA replacement, which I requested, and it looks perfect. lots much better than the OEM one I got and I’m very thankful that they gave me the option of returning the OEM one for the SA one. I know everyone’s a little upset with BKD, and I get it, but if they didn’t at least try to do OEM then you know everyone would just be groaning about how they don’t offer OEM. Now we at least see that SA is better for this type of artisan. The SA keycap really did turn out great. Here are the pictures of my SA one, as you can see it’s much more like what was advertised.
IT looks neat on my black board and I was only ever expecting to try and admire it from a side angle.
I have learned now that the best caps are ones that are distinctive enough from a top-down view, hence have just gone for the latest Jelly.
I got the 'OEM' version, it's absolutely terrible. First, the criticism that would apply to both OEM and SA: Poor wood effect, no fog at all, non centered, you've already seen this before.
The worst part though? This is some alien-ass 'OEM' cap because it's like 5mm taller than any OEM cap I've ever seen! It looks horrible on any board I have.
All in all, I am fairly happy with the key I received relative to my expectation, although it certainly is missing elements of the concept that can't be put down to deviation in hand made products.
The detail is certainly significantly lower than the concept that was sold, with less care being taken in painting of the snow than pictured, although there was an attempt to get some of the speckling. The snow in the corners on my key is also tinged brown, as if it got dirty in the crafting process.
The fog in my key is actually really good. I think it would only be better if the key was SA profile.
The proportion of ebony doesn't really work for OEM. I think this key should have been offered as SA only.
Frankly, I imagine these were incredibly hard to make and the demand was probably too high.
At first I honestly appreciate all your feedbacks of Mt.Fuji,It really means a lot for me.
About the fog and proportion of ebony and resin, because of all of my products were handmade,
and it is impossible to control the fog and proportion ebony were the same as Massdrop’s photos.
The Mt.Fuji R1 were total sold over 800pcs,and I finished it by myself and ship them on time(the customs clearance delay a bit days)
As I mentioned between I made them, there were over 200pcs Mt.Fuji rejected during the QC.
In addition, it'd be great if more people posted the pictures of the artisan you guys purchased.
At last, if there is any quality issue, or you are simply not satisifed with your keycap, please reach out to Massdrop community support team through your transaction page for a return/refund. If there is a stem issue, please let them know, I will do my best to provide a replacement if that is granted by the CS team.
Thank you all for your support.

BIGKIDThe fog is the best feature IMHO.
If you did something like a Victorian theme with a street gaslight surrounded by thick fog you could be onto a winner. :)
