I view an over 5% lower price, a several day delivery rather than several months and buying from someone who will provide warranty support to be a big deal. You appear to work for MD with your avid defense of their ways or you have little experience with them. There are rarely any deals anymore on MD so this statement of your's about buying at wholesale prices and passing the savings on is simply not true. Read all the bad experiences people had with the last drop of the Native 5, it was a disaster. I myself have had a lot of customer service issues with MD. In addition to paying regular street prices, waiting months and not getting delivered the right item or any warranty service if needed, you are taking on a lot of risk. I see this as a no brainer and high risk and I would never participate in such a crapshoot. Unfortunately most of us do not have the advantage that you do with Spyderco which is another reason why you should not be advising people to gamble with their hard earned money. This is a terrible deal for the majority of the buyers and reason should tell you that MD is the one who has to win in the end.

Amen, it's so true it's astonishing. Textbook example for sure, but there is something else too mixed in too. I read this in an article and it couldn't be more spot on: "But what about when a person does push back against the facts, when they simply cannot admit they were wrong in any circumstance? What in their psychological makeup makes it impossible for them to admit they were wrong, even when it is obvious they were? And why does this happen so repetitively — why do they never admit they were wrong? The answer is related to their ego, their very sense-of-self. Some people have such a fragile ego, such brittle self-esteem, such a weak "psychological constitution," that admitting they made a mistake or that they were wrong is fundamentally too threatening for their egos to tolerate. Accepting they were wrong, absorbing that reality, would be so psychologically shattering, their defense mechanisms do something remarkable to avoid doing so — they literally distort their perception of reality to make it (reality) less threatening. Their defense mechanisms protect their fragile ego by changing the very facts in their mind, so they are no longer wrong or culpable." ^ This explains so much to me of what is happening here.

Dude, if you don't like MD (or now D), then don't shop here. Some of us have had a great experience with MD.

Any other international Buyers had to pay taxes over VAT instead of price paid? Because I did....and it surely made this less of a steal (especially since I got the lowly (but very nice) black FRN/S35Vn version).
Would like to know if I'm the only one who got robbed by the government because someone at MassDrop didn't do their job right.

Still no reply on why they did it.
However. They did try to make it up to me and reimbursed me with the full amount that I paid on import.
So they really did do their best in my case.

Wow..... After the shit show we had here last time around, i can't believe they piggy backed this new blue box with different options onto the same product page So, if the base is now CPM-S110v, how is S30V an upgrade?

It's also reputed to be "chippy", but again many opinions on that. Still, as "supersteels" go, S110 is more controversial than say M390 or CPM 20CV, but is also cheaper and a bit easier to find in the market, especially on Massdrop where most upgraded steel is usually S35VN.
Exactly. Losing the steel liners and changing to S30v from S35vn in the g10 native are dubious at best "improvements". Particularly since there is already a lightweight version of the knife for folks that want to forgo liners for weight reasons. Sometimes the CQI is really an improvement. They changed the Spydiechef from a steel detent ball to a ceramic one to make it entirely stainless, that was a in production change that was a definite improvement.

Hey everyone, Wanted to address some comments and concerns some of you have regarding the drop. In the previous run of this drop, Spyderco made us aware they updated the steel of the base model, after the drop ended, and orders were captured. For those lucky members who received upgrades, your order was not affected, and for the 50% of those affected, we gave a $25 credit, and sent a statement from Spyderco explaining this mix-up. Affected members were also given the option to return the base model for a full refund. If you were in the previous drop, were affected, and did not receive your $25 credit, please reach out to our Community Support team at CS@massdrop.com, and we’ll make sure we correct that. We can assure you that this drop won’t have the same issue. We’ve worked closely with Spyderco to ensure everything is in order and we’re excited to be running the Native 5 Blue Box again! We appreciate all of your feedback. We’re always listening, and of course, always want to do right by the community. Thanks!
kyleemjSo, s30v isn't included in the "upgrades" anymore? Frankly, I'd be upset if I ordered s110v and got s30v

Chuck_TooMuchFaceIt is for this drop, might be fixed in future drops. Also, if you "win" the S30 "upgrade", you can't decline it. TLDR: Want S110 or better, wait for the next drop!

Clearly I'm in the minority here, but I gotta go with Galvo on this. Its seems to be a 'Mob' mentality going on here. I think if no one else knew that anyone else was complaining (i.e. this forum) then this would be a 'meh.. i'll keep it' or a ' Meh.. I'll take the refund" and that would be that. Next drop please.. :)

Yates57For $80 you got a knife that retails for $95 elsewhere (going forward all of the standard Native Vs will be S30) + a Sharpmaker that retails for $65.
So basically 50% off retail. Your call on whether to return but that's a damn good deal.

Sooo...I lucked out and got a fluted Native 5. Oddly enough it said S90V on the box. What I ended up getting what not a fluted titanium, but a fluted carbon fiber. I guess that works in my favor? Not sure yet.

ScreaminpirateYeah bruh, you made out like a bandit here, CF>Ti anyday!
Especially well worked CF, it's often left fairly bland because of all the cancerous dust it creates while being shaped.

Everone please note or look up for yourself that Spyderco is switching from s35vn to s30v in the Native 5 because in their words it is an upgrade. This is a new change.
