I needed a pack I could use with a bear can that was durable for the brushy, rocky, wet Olympics. This is now my favorite pack. It's around 3 lbs but has perfect dimensions for a centered can and my gear around it. I like that the pockets aren't mesh, which can get snagged by branches, tear and leave you dropping your items like Hansel and Gretel as you walk. I do have to use it with the full frame in place--just the foam frame is not enough support with the pack fully loaded but bear cans are required here so I can't imagine I'll get a chance to test it with just the foam frame and less weight. Highly recommend if you want a lighter large pack with the ability to carry a heavier load.

The pack is light and roomy!! All pockets are large and accessible!! The lack of padding behind the buckles on the waist straps would be the only knock on this pack, sometime after a long day of hiking they dig in a little!! Overall great design and great pack!!

I love it. Good size and light. The outer fabric is a bit thin so I'd recommend to avoid putting or dropping the bag on rocks.
