Yeah, 61 cents more for quick and free Amazon delivery, direct from the Artisan Cutlery store. The two under 30 dollar blades from CRJB and Artisan are deals though.
I think drop ought to forget the budget knives - insignificant price benefit to members and a definite delay in getting knives delivered. I'm still waiting for the Degnan Emrose, and it had better live up to the hype; otherwise, I'm outta here!
Man I love the look of the CJRB natural green but it doesn't seem like Drop ever has it available for any CJRB knife - I just grabbed this in Natural Green off knifecenter for $37.95 and $3.99 shipping to Eastern US with estimated 2-5 day ship time. Will update when I get it.
SethGYeah I really thought that was the point of Drop, too, but not so much anymore, it's just a place to dump stock, often dated stock...not at all the original stated purpose of drop, as is drop shipping, as in it's all a big LIE
MManalangMore of a family resemblance. They’re both unembellished Persian flippers with ball bearing pivots. If you stick to that basic design, you can only make cosmetic distinctions. There are anatomical differences, like frame vs liner lock, and blade steel choice, but they don’t change the appearance much, especially from the show side of the knife.
I wouldn’t knock the Gobi as a ripoff. It’s a well made budget knife for someone who wants a Persian “user” blade. Or like myself, someone who never had a Persian before and wanted to try one out without risking the week’s grocery budget. Turns out I kinda’ like it, and it’s a plus that CJRB makes pretty darn good knives at a bargain price point.
I received notification on Monday that there was a problem with the vendor fulfilling the orders and that my money would be refunded. Seriously disappointed and have no interest in playing this game again.
