Thank you! I saw your note during the last few hours and took advantage of it. Saved $18.60 CAD by switching. I'm still waiting for my previous order of different inks -- hasn't even arrived at the warehouse after 5 wks.
stewmanderYep, I just ordered from Diamine and was able to get six 30ml bottles plus the 5ml sample for $31. The shipping is First Class international without tracking, so fingers crossed it all arrives safely!
You must be joking.
By ordering directly from Diamine, you get the same inks, with shipping for $28.89 (at today's exchange rate). Yes, that's a whole $1.15 more than what you pay here.
However, Diamine will give you a free ink sample with your purchase.
Plus, you know that it will get to you in a timely manner, probably a week or two, unlike with Mass Drop, where you may get it 4, 5, 6 weeks later--if not longer.
Order from Diamine, for peace of mind.
Hello people!
I have a big problem with these "drop" for Diamine inks..
This is not a "drop" in price.. I had a pretty similar "problem" with the Shimmertastic 2-pack drop that happened a week or two ago. Back then it wasn't such a difference compared to this drop tho...
Here is my "problem":
You are paying 2.67 Pounds per 30 ml bottle if you order directly from diamine.
Let me do the math for this drop:
Massdrops price: 24 USD
Price for the same ammount of ink if you order directly from diamineinks.co.uk : ruthly 16.70 USD
Ammount of ink you could get for the massdrop price: 7 bottles in total (ruthly 23.50 USD) + 5ml ink sample for free.
percent wise ordering from diamine inks would give you 40% more ink for 50 cents less.
I am looking at the prices right now. It is 2.67 pounds including VAT. I haven't selected any shipping. To the U.S. it is 2.67 pounds minus the 20% VAT
ctblakeMY FAULT SORRY!
You're right, a bottle of ink without VAT will go for 2.22 pounds..
shipping the 5 bottles + the free ink sample outside of the EU will cost you 10 pounds extra over at their homepage
however.. i was just getting the numbers for my case, where i have to include the VAT on Diamine and even then it's much cheaper there..(at least for me) plus much much faster delivery.. plus the free ink sample :>
Of all the inks I’ve tried, all my Diamine inks continue to be the stand-outs. Always consistent good writing ink in a variety of pens. Very happy to see a repeat of this 5 bottle drop to add to my collection. These usually sell for $7.50 a bottle or $37.50 for a set of 5, meaning this drop is an excellent savings, love it!
Here’s what I’m picking up this time around:
For non-Brit customers the costs are about the same due to international shipping rates, but ordering directly from Diamine increases the quality of the purchase: Massdrop doesn't ship until December 2nd while Diamine ships much sooner; and on Diamine's online website -- http://diamineinks.co.uk -- I can choose five 30 mL ink samples among MORE color options than Massdrop, PLUS receive a bonus 5mL sample. In comparing costs, Massdrop lists in US Dollars Subtotal = $23.49 , Shipping = $3.75 , and Taxes = $2.08 for a total cost of $29.82; while Diamine lists costs in British pounds (GBP) as Subtotal = 11.12 , Vat Deduction = 2.23 , Delivery to Rest of World = 10.00 for a total cost of 23.35 GBP or $28.46 USD. Google shows the value of the GBP versus the US dollar has significantly dropped in the last two years, which makes me wonder if Massdrop negotiated with Diamine pegged to a fixed GBP rate awhile back when the exchange rate was much higher.
gausseyphkaThanks for sharing this. I guess the GBP drop has really affected things here. Unfortunately I've already ordered, but will know better next time.
This is actually a total rip off. I went directly to Diamine's website, and 5 bottles of 30 mL ink is 23$ including shipping after conversion. Massdrop is literally scamming us out of money here. If you don't believe go to their website and try it. Make sure to delete the free sample they put in your cart though since that's 5$ in shipping. Just the 5 30mL is 23$
Hi Folks,
If you live in CONUS and are familiar with Diamine Inks, this is a great deal for some awesome ink in my opinion. I see that many have already come to the same conclusion. As of this writing (May 16, 2016), this has nearly 300 participants. While this drop is active, I will try to make various posts explaining why I’m so fond of this ink. First, I’ll explain why I think this is a good deal.
From a US distributor, price runs from $4 - $10/bottle (amazon and eBay, well-known and reputable online dealers in the states and UK). Sometimes shipping is included, sometimes not. The price from Massdrop is a scratch under $28 for the 5-pack, shipping included. This comes to just under $6/bottle. Another way to look at it is: $7/bottle + one free.
As these are manufactured in the UK, direct shipping to USA is about 10GBP. While the “per bottle” price is cheaper (even with the exchange rate), you’d have to buy quite a few (100GBP from CultPens) to reach any “free shipping” threshold.
For me, the 30ml size is perfect. With these and other inks in regular rotation, I might go through a bottle in a year or three. I decant what I need into a vial and pull from the vial into the pen. The 30ml bottles are plastic, good for travel (under TSA liquid threshold) and less prone to breakage. Unfortunately, they’re not weighted especially well. If I were to travel with a bottle, I’d bring a 5-7ml vial with me, anyway.
Again, as long as you know what you’re getting and what your ink usage habits are, this is a solid deal for those of us in CONUS. If this describes you, you’d be hard pressed to find better.
Hope this helps anyone still considering.
Cheers.
