8/26 UPDATE
Hi everyone, Happy to announce the carry cases have arrived at our warehouse as of yesterday and shipping will begin soon. It'll take a few days for shipping to begin as we're working through an uptick in orders. We expect to have these out over the weekend and into early next week, if necessary. Keep an eye out for tracking then.
7/27 UPDATE
Hi everyone,
Back with an update on the ALT carrying cases. Based on feedback from the first run, we’re working to improve the velcro. That said, it’ll take us a little more time to get these to our warehouse and out to all of you. We’re now looking at shipping closer to late August. We apologize for the additional delay but hope you will be happy with the improvements made to the case.
If you’d prefer not to wait the additional time, this run is still open for cancellations via your Transactions page (https://drop.com/transactions). Thank you so much for your patience. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Community Support team at drop.com/support.
JaleesaGJust got my case finally delivered today after months of waiting... and I must have gotten the older version of this case that had the velcro problems right? The vecro design on this is terrible. The flap doesnt stay closed at all because theres only a few cm of velcro to velcro contact since the strips of velcro are perpendicular from each other... Also the cable pocket is pathetic, it doesnt even fit Drop's own branded cable! The depth of the pocket is about the size of a business card. Please confirm.
The latest batch of the ALT Soft Carry Case has shipped. As mentioned in our update on 7/27, we made some small tweaks to the case in response to initial feedback from the first version of the case. Specifically people wanted to be able to snug up the case flap to be "tighter" to fit smaller keyboards and the previous velcro placement (with matching horizontal stripes) essentially only allowed for a single level of tightness.
We've seen a range of feedback from both the first and second versions, and will continue to make small tweaks as we seek to find the "optimal" solution. Despite it's uncommon appearance, the current version with perpendicular velcro has been strength tested (you can put an ALT keyboard in it and shake it upside down, the velcro doesn't unfasten).
We expect a product like this to evolve over time, with small changes- velcro, pockets, straps, interior/exterior colors, size, etc. We'll do our best to communicate any major changes to people ahead of time. If you're ever not satisfied with what you have received, please contact customer support and they'll get you setup with a refund.
Yeah it is a Garbage collection (but the clear one not smoked) and I love it I also saw recently that they aren't available anymore. I think it's due to covid. I hope they are not out of business. They sold them for all types of keyboards when I bought mine. I have the Orange TKL one and love it for my TKL, it is much thicker construction and higher end, made out a single mold I think but there 60% wont fit the ALT as it's a 65% variant. The Orange one also has a curved front. The garbage one is more like they use heat and factory tools to bend the acrylic into a box of the right dimensions (hence why it has no corners and they can make it any size) then add felt to to the bottom. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RJNZ0GV3WM2CV/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B07SSWWLSH Now I need to sew a felt sleeve for the glass rest so it wont scratch if in there with it. Are the drop covers the orange ones or other ones made for the ALT?
rvcjewYeah I missed out on the Garbage Collection ones. I had a hard time justifying the price. The orange ones from Drop do not fit the ALT but I did order the 60% and the TKL as I have other keybs to protect.
You could build a small/low profile carry handle that folds in when not in use. These are heavy aluminum keyboards, not having a carry handle is a miss. Thanks for considering the feedback for a potential future version, and good luck!
ivadaPerhaps a small holding strap on the backside would work, while still being subtle and discrete. Because at least having some sort of handle is definitely a nice feature, and lacking it is a clear oversight.
Hi, Im still yet to see my case be shipped out and I'm also concerned about what edmondhxu has posted below about the poor sized pocket for the cord and the velcro problems?
I'm so annoyed. No I never requested a refund nor received one. I also picked up on the fact that something like this might of happened as I saw the fact I got my reward points taken away and I clarified not one, but twice, with CS that I never requested a refund and that I will be getting the items I ordered delivered at the time, including this and mito laser keycaps. Urghhhh.
Also could you please clarify if this patch job that some users are complaining about with the misaligned velcro being poor and the cable pocket being tiny if you could?
