I bought this to replace the PCB in my Drop Alt High Profile as one of the hot swap switches fell off after removing the HP Xs that came installed. I have never had this happen with any of my other hot swap boards but I figured I must have been too rough on the board so I just bit the bullet and bought a new PCB instead of going to customer support about the issue. Well it turns out that it wasn't my fault, these boards have some of the weakest solders ever. I was extra careful installing my Box Jades on my new PCB and once again the O keys hot swap socket fell right off. I'm done with Drop... what a joke.
EDIT: Just realized that the board they sold me has permanent marker drawn on it. Are they just half assed fixing returned PCBs? WTF
Originally, I bought this for a separate project because I saw it on sale and I needed a 65% pcb. What i did not realize is that this pcb won't work with any of the more standardized 65% cases out there. That was entirely my fault, but I bit the bullet and bought the LED diffuser and case separately, and made my own drop alt.
I think ultimately it was like $20 cheaper than buying the barebones, and I got to buy my own stabs, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you really want a specific case color and only that color. I don't have any of the angled feet, and I had to go to a hardware store to get screws, but in the end I have a functional and aesthetically pleasing board for a relatively reasonable price.
I ordered this as a replacement for the original PCB for my Drop Alt, because one of the sockets on the original broke off. I have only changed the switches a couple of times with the replacement PCB but what do you know? One of the sockets broke off the replacement as well. I guess when changing switches, the PCB should be removed from the keyboard and supported from behind. Who knows when they will have this in stock again?
After trying out other pcb boards from kdbfans and etc, the Drop Alt is simple and works great for being a hot-swap option. I wish they had a solder board version but this is great for those who like to try out different switches before finally committing. Beware this version is for 3 pin switches and if you have a 5 pin you would need to clip the excess plastic ones.
