Great gateway into the world of custom mechanical keyboards
I purchased this for my wife as a present, and was happy to see that it is very well made, with a well thought out design that makes customization quite easy. She loves how it sounds with the Gateron Brown switches (she describes it as "thocky"), and also likes the feel of typing on it. She is also very excited to customize it in the future with some keycap sets once she selects one.
Absolutely took it apart and put threw some more stuff in there but Absolutely what I needed, I had to get a brown case for some key caps, to match with coffee
I loved the RGB lighting. The keys caps could be upgraded for a little more style but it’s cool seeing the light shine through the gateron switches. I also like the black outer shell, something seeing all the switches looks terrible to me so I like a high standard case
Bought it on sale specifically to pair with some of the Lord of the Rings keycaps. I found the typing experience significantly improved when I changed the keycaps, but that might be because I’m now used to a non OEM profile. I do like that it comes with removable switches as the other keyboards I’ve purchased are soldered.
I had it for a year, worked/sounds great.
switched to silent shrimp tactile keys.
Unforunately I spilled water on it and now its dead (my fault), I'm hoping and im contact with CS now to see if I can buy a replacement board as ideally dont want to buy another barebones and end up with 2 cases / spare parts etc.
Here it was when I upgraded from an old K70 and stole some of the keys.
edit December 01 2024: keyboard has completely failed. No key response, the (useless before this, even more useless now) LED lights don’t turn on, windows doesn’t even recognize it as a keyboard. Customer support: “that’s normal”. Do not buy ANYTHING from this website.
I love everything about this keyboard. The gateron brown aren't quite as satisfying to use as the MX Cherry's I've used in the past, but it's a very satisfying product, looks good, and seems to have been built quality. My only complaint is that your only options are fully built or barebones. There needs to be a medium option. I don't want to mess with switches or weights, just keycaps, plates, and cables (I have a minor numbers-related disability that makes comparing things like weights or values kind of a problem). So I had to buy the fully built keyboard, with a plastic face plate that is now just collecting dust until I bother throwing it away, because I ordered an aluminum plate to replace the default plastic one. Likewise I had to order a whole separate set of keycaps that would arrive and render the caps that shipped with the board useless. (This was actually a saving grace, because it turns out that even though Drop Support told me that the keycaps I ordered would fit my keyboard, not only did they not fit the keyboard, nor did they look anything like their picture). A "half built" keyboard where a user could choose their own usb cable, keycaps, and plate.
All in all, I love my keyboard. I likely won't buy my next one here just to avoid the annoyances I listed above, but I can't imagine this one will die any time soon. If anything, I'll get annoyed that YET ANOTHER EFFING accessory is filled with obnoxious disco lighting and just dig my old IBM keyboard out of storage sometime in the next 2 to 4 years.
Amazing keyboard at a great price. This keyboard is on another level. Relatively quiet, solidly built, and smooth movement (compared to milky yellows on other keyboards). Shown with DCX Solarized Dark Keycap Set. I'm old, so I've used a wide array of keyboards, mechanical and otherwise, over the years (dating back to the Commodore 64). This and the the new Drop Shift V2 are hands down the best.
Absolutely adore this keyboard, it's a perfect fit for someone who gets bored with looks very easily and is constantly changing/upgrading boards for a different vibe. The ability to quickly swap the top case cover of this makes it super easy to quickly change the look/feel of the whole thing at a whim.
Love me a plug and play product. This is nice straight out the box. And the exchangeable cases were the final reason why I went with this as my first mechanical board.
