When I plug the included USB-C cable into my KVM Switch I am unable to get the keyboard to turn on. It works just fine when plugged into the USB port on my laptop and Desktop PC. Is this an issue with the power supply of the KVM Switch?
ShaanuI just got a KVM and have the same issue. I don't think it's a powered issue because I actually plugged a powered USB hub into my KVM as a test and plugged my keyboard into that, and still no-go.
invisiblotis@invisiblotis What KVM switch did you buy? I just found this problem using a Rosewill 2.0 switch, so I just ordered the UGreen 3.0 switch to try...
Thanks!
invisiblotis@invisiblotis Ah, that looks mighty beefy. :) And that one is working with the keyboard, powering it just fine? It has a lot more on it than I need (I only need to switch 2 USB devices (mouse & keyboard), but if it works, I will consider it, if the UGreen switch doesn't!
mattpnolanSorry if my initial wording was confusing. The CLK brand triple monitor DOES NOT work with the CTRL.
More info: I had a theory that maybe the keyboard wasn't getting enough power via the KVM. So instead of plugging in the keyboard directly to the KVM, I plugged in a powered USB hub. Into the hub, I plugged both my keyboard and mouse as a control group. The mouse still worked through the USB hub, but the keyboard DID NOT.
Summary: I never got my CTRL working via a KVM. Instead I begrudgingly just have 2 USB cables, one directly to my laptop and one to my PC, and I just switch plugs when I switch machines :(
invisiblotis@invisiblotis Gotcha. Thank you for clarifying. That is a real bummer. I'll let you know if the UGreen switch happens to work, since that is already on its way to me. :/
So basically now, I just have 2 buttons to press, which isn't all that bad, though I don't think it should be necessary. But the UGreen USB switch allows not only my mouse and keyboard to work, but the LEDs work on my CTRL keyboard as well. Hope this helps you or someone.
invisiblotis@invisiblotis Thank you for commenting back on this! I actually bought that same UGreen switch, but I haven't had time to try it out, yet. :)
I had to send my Ctrl back, because one of the sockets didn't work in the first one I got. I got a replacement this past week, but I actually found that, believe it or not, my Rosewill switch works with the Ctrl when I have a 5v AC adapter plugged into it!:

So, I'm going to stick with this Rosewill, for now, since that is what I was already using, and I like having the button close to my keyboard. However, I'm glad to know the UGreen switch works, as I now have that as a backup (though the button being on the actual device would make it a little more annoying for me). :)
