The Aeon Closed X are a great set for the money. I would say you probably get about 80-90% of the sound of the more expensive Noire with these. Don’t really see the need to upgrade to the Noire if you have these! https://www.amazon.com/DROP-Clark-Planar-Magnetic-Headphones/dp/B0979PLPZ4

Hey guys, dont know if Im the only one but when I got the headphones I loved the look of leather but found the strap to be narrow, very stiff and not comfortable. I kept playing with the sliders non-stop trying to get a perfect fit. I thought it would soften up with time, but it did not so I designed a replacement strap made out of vegan PU leather that is not only wider but also stretchy. Similar to how the high end Dan Clark models like Stealth and Expanse stretch to fit, this has some stretch to micro adjust instead of using the sliders. PS: Quick update. I have the strap listed on Etsy if is interested. It works for both AEON and Ether models and if your DCA headphones are open back, the hex pattern on the strap will match the hex pattern on the cups. maximit.etsy.com

I have had these for a number of weeks now. I am pleased with the sound, comfort and light weight. With my hearing now down in the treble range, these sound very nice. I plan to take them travelling due to the light weight. They are not as nice as my LCD-XC headphones, but still very good for the money. Given the wide variability of everyone's sound preferences, the high number of mostly positive experiences amongst reviews speaks for itself. As always with headphones/speakers, your experience with these cans will differ.

Mine just arrived here in Spain after 3 weeks (I think it's quite normal considering christmas and all that stuff). Everything was perfect except for the imbalance of the channels, the right one sounds with significant less volume. The sound is exactly what I thought it was going to be with that price and the fact that these are closedback planars. The isolation is good and they are confortable. I have to return this unit and hoping to get another pair with no problems. I will keep you updated. Totally worth it for the price :)

I've owned these headphones for quite a while, but yesterday one of the metal bands snapped and broke in half and kind of rendering them unusable now. Does anyone know how I'd get these repaired or am I just out of luck because it doesn't seem like you can take apart the headband portion easily.

obake1Hit up DCA. They're very good with repairs and customer service in general. I own 5 pairs of their headphones currently and have owned several others in the past. I have gone to them on 3 occasions for various service requests and had zero problem, always getting prompt replies and reasonable solutions.

I auditioned the Aeon Noire's yesterday, and they are amazing sounding HP's. On the strength of that, I went ahead an ordered the Aeon Closed X. In a review by DMS, he said that the Closed X's are 80-85% of the performance of the Noire's. I sure hope I don't miss that 15-20% delta too much because @ $399, I know I would miss the extra $500 it would take to step up to the Noire's.

spamishedGiven the Aeon #padgate issue, the maximum acceptable price point of any Aeon is $300. Anything above that and it's not worth having to deal with regularly replacing the pads. Drop is still shipping the defective Aeon #padgate pads.

I would get these, if not for that thin, 2 wire, Clamp design. I've owned two pair like this, including my last which were Massdrop x AKG K7XX Red Edition and they broke in the articulation of 2 wires and headphone joint, because I like to lay on my side when wearing headphones, after just 1-2 years of use. Ear buds or even Doctor Molded IEMs get ear sweaty and slippery after long term use, so I prefer overears, BUT I lay on them. If these had a headclamp like the Sennheiser HD 800 or the 6XX series, I would get these in a heartbeat. :(

I'm impressed with these earphones but my DacMagic 200 doesn't provide enough power. Is there an integrated amp anyone would recommend to accompany the Aeon Closed X and my DAC?

EssarRidgeI drive mine with the Topping E30 II DAC + L30 II Amp, it puts out 6+ volts at 13 ohm. Very few other headphone amps can deliver enough power at 13ohms. If you want to splurge the A70 Pro can do 10+ volts but that only gives about 4db more then the L30 II.
