From the mind of designer Ethan Schoonover, Solarized is an IDE theme that puts software development in the perfect light. Now, it’s doing the same for typing. Working closely with the man himself, we created Drop DCX Solarized: a keycap set that exudes solar power. Calibrated perfectly with its namesake, Solarized sports the coding theme’s light mode on its alpha keys and dark mode on its modifiers. As for the legends? Those match too, creating the theme’s ideal contrast for maximal legibility—also optimized by our DCX injection process, where legends are injected to exacting tolerances of nearly 0.05 millimeters. As far as the feel goes, we took over 2 years to meticulously create the gently cylindrical DCX experience, crafting a subtly sculpted top that’s both familiar and undeniably unique. The profile itself is on the shorter side, but the caps are among the heaviest at their size, delivering a sturdy feel with excellent durability. Taking over 2 years to refine our design, strengthen our manufacturing, and gather input from our community, we created a shorter, subtly sculpted keycap worthy of any endgame keyboard. The embodiment of our newest, most exacting build processes, DCX keycaps are made from ultra-substantial, proprietary ABS material that’s neither shiny nor hollow-sounding. For a truly blemish-free look that lasts, each keycap’s sprue mark is located on its interior (rather than on a finished side, like many caps). Look closely at the doubleshot legends, and you’ll find next to no flaws there either, since each one is injected within precise tolerances of nearly 0.05 millimeters. Plus, all DCX sets feature carefully considered design principles, including symmetrical vertical margins, consistent left-side legend alignment for all rows, and extensive Base Kit compatibility.
