Just What I Was Looking for and More
Well, there is much positive that has already been said about this pair of cans, so you can stop reading here and just go buy them already. For me, it is something that checks the gaming and some music listening boxes, as well as being a steal for the Drop's sale price ($119). I have the EPOS H6Pro (open back) and they are great but are a bit heavy and bulky. Figured why not just go for the legend itself, right? I am glad I've made the right choice and can say that I found all the positives that the H6Pros were lacking in. The PC38X, compared to H6Pros, is less weight, less bulk, and a tad better sounding (at least for me personally). It does lack a little in build quality since it is all plastic. Not something I worry about, looks like a lot of people have had them for a long time without too many issues reported. Another BIG negative is the crappy cords it comes with. I swapped out the native cable for the one my H6Pros came with (it's superb in every way). Combined with my Schiit Hel2 DAC, I am pretty sure that this is it for me. It is all I will ever need for my desktop setup when it comes to gaming and YouTube/MP3 listening needs. Positives: weightless, slim, great staging/imaging and overall sound quality, excellent mic. Negatives: Crappy cables, build quality can be better but still good, clamping force a bit tight and takes a while to break in. Conclusion: There is nothing better for the price. Wait for a sale and try them out. I will probably get a 2nd pair.

My absolute favorite
This headset has ruined my expectations for pretty much every other headset I'll have. Before this I thought my Corsair Void Pros were the bee's knees. The audio mix is so awesome and I constantly get compliments on my voice quality. I use this headset for work, so the over-the-ear and open back keep me comfortable for 8+ hours of calls.

Sounds good but cheap cord
Less than a year and the provided cord is already shorting out at the 3.55mm connector. The cord is the worst one I've used including ones on $30 headphones. And I've disconnected it maybe four tines.

Extremely disappointing and overhyped.
These headphones are...not horrible. But I expected leagues beyond this. People recommended this to be like it's the second coming of christ, how no other headphones were even comparable. From start to finish, it's been a nightmare. I begin ordering them. Shipping to Sweden is about 6 weeks. Not great, but entirely understandable. $15 international shipping is a pretty good deal too. Some weeks pass, postal office says that the headphones have arrived in Sweden. Hooray. Another week passes. THEY'RE STUCK IN CUSTOMS. I HAD TO PAY A $30 CUSTOMS FEE. I don't know if I should have predicted this would happen, but still. That $30 discount is now practically gone. So finally they arrive. Keep in mind I had HyperX Cloud II before this. Had them since 2015. First thing I notice, noise amplification. I understand open back headphones don't have stellar noise reduction. But now I can hear my computer fans LOUDER. Not that big of a deal, noise reduction isn't that important to me. Moving on, the comfort. I guess HyperX spoiled me or something. Putting those on is like putting on a pillow. These headphones press far too hard. The cable is also 2 3.5mm instead of a singular USB like any other headphones worth mentioning. But hey, they are old. But the most important thing is of course sound quality and imaging. And it's very okay-ish. I didn't pay almost $200 to get okay-ish headphones. They sound almost exactly the same as the HyperX Cloud II. But at the same time, the bass is very underwhelming. There's very little "oomph". Now the imaging is stellar, I begrudgingly admit. It sounds like real life. That gives them a bit of a wow-factor. But that is the only positive thing I can say about them I'm afraid. The mic is alright. Haven't had any complaints so far.

eyshot01It sounds like you shouldn't be buying open-back headphones. There's no such thing as an open back headset that will have bass and noise reduction on par with a closed back headset. Also, 3.5mm jacks are superior to USB in every way when it comes to noise signal ratio.

Ironically, it's better for music than gaming
I bought this headset, based on optimum's recommendation. Even with EQ I could not hear footsteps well, because of the too much bass and the tuning of the headset. The mic is great and the headset is very comfortable, but for FPS gaming, what I mainly bought it for is not good at all.

The GOAT of gaming headsets.
The PC38X Gaming Headset is second to none in my opinion - For both music and gaming. At first I was sceptical living in the UK before ordering. Fortunately, my friend had recommended me the product. I borrowed his and I was astonished with the performance. I just wanted something easy going with great audio and mic quality in one peripheral for the good price. Couldn't be more happier with the product so I ordered my own!

After six months of intial usage, it hasn't let me down.
  1. If you don't have an amp or just using the case pcb or MOBO headjack, I would recommend getting the Realtek Audio Console on your PC for personal audio tweaks and fixing mic issues with the ports if they appear (lost mic connection twice). Other than that both input and output sound have been incredible for all usages.
  2. It is conformtable for its price, nothing too suave but good.
  3. The plastic mold is solid, they've could've made it less stiff. The wire and headphone jack are very sturdy (I've tugged the jack once because of not taking off the headset.)
  4. Very good product overall!
