Product Description
The ultimate acoustic experience? The natural one: where sound reaches your ears through the open air, from a source right in front of you. It’s not a difficult concept to wrap your head around. In the history of headphone design, however, it’s proven difficult to wrap it around your head. Until now. Meet the Drop + grell OAE1 Signature: a groundbreaking pair of headphones with game-changing driver geometry and an ultra-expansive soundstage.
Is the headband padding going to be replaceable? Over time it's generally the padding on this type of design that I end up replacing or swapping out for an aftermarket solution (Sennheisers were pretty friendly in that regard and other brands have suspension headbands you can replace). I found the Panda's headband to be lacking but couldn't really do much with it since the band was generally too thick top to bottom but also too narrow front to back to wrap an aftermarket solution around.
Edit: I read a Reddit comment that stated the cushion snaps together and it should be replaceable with aftermarket options.
AxelGrellHi Axel! I'm curious, will there be alternative ear pads available for the OAE1? It would be fantastic to have options to tweak the sound to suit different preferences. Cheers! :)
AxelGrellHi Axel, I love these headphones and use them a lot!
When will repacement ear-pads be available?
I like to have them arround, just in case, because they are in daily use.
Thanx for this very amazing headphones!!!
The headband tension is quick to adjust though! No need to crush the earpads by using books for hours. The headband splits into a top and bottom half section. I suggest using a guitar pick, plastic wedge, or other pry tool (preferably not likely to scratch things), or even just your bare hands. Look how neat the inside design is:

Steps:
1. Remove lower padding by unsnapping along the seam.
2. Remove six screws on one side, which hold the slider in place.
3. Slide the spring steel out on the open side.
4. Adjust spring steel by flexing/stretching it to reduce the amount of tension.
5. Slide back into place making sure it is seated properly and is not pinching the overhead cable.
6. Reinstall slider with the six screws.
7. Align lower padding and press to snap back into place.
Will there be a 4 pin XLR balanced cable available for this?
Alternatively, if I were to order one from another company, would I want a single sided cable, TRRRS (4 pole?) 2.5mm to 4 pin XLR?
It's important for me to get it right, as my main amp (Nitsch DSHA-3FN) is balanced only, and any mis-wiring of the cable could short out the amp! That would not be good...
Correction: Made in china. Refer to Axel's comment below.
In a video interview Axell said that one of the parts was made in the same factory as the HD800 so possibly Germany. Although I'm not certain. You can find the video in the most recent "story" post.
