Product Description
The ultimate acoustic experience? The natural one: where sound reaches your ears through the open air, from a source right in front of you. It’s not a difficult concept to wrap your head around. In the history of headphone design, however, it’s proven difficult to wrap it around your head. Until now. Meet the Drop + grell OAE1 Signature: a groundbreaking pair of headphones with game-changing driver geometry and an ultra-expansive soundstage.
Is the headband padding going to be replaceable? Over time it's generally the padding on this type of design that I end up replacing or swapping out for an aftermarket solution (Sennheisers were pretty friendly in that regard and other brands have suspension headbands you can replace). I found the Panda's headband to be lacking but couldn't really do much with it since the band was generally too thick top to bottom but also too narrow front to back to wrap an aftermarket solution around.
Edit: I read a Reddit comment that stated the cushion snaps together and it should be replaceable with aftermarket options.
Will there be a 4 pin XLR balanced cable available for this?
Alternatively, if I were to order one from another company, would I want a single sided cable, TRRRS (4 pole?) 2.5mm to 4 pin XLR?
It's important for me to get it right, as my main amp (Nitsch DSHA-3FN) is balanced only, and any mis-wiring of the cable could short out the amp! That would not be good...
I have similar question:
if we want to use balance should we get dual 2.5mm to 4 pin xlr?
it seems the 4.4mm cable that comes with it only connects to one 2.5mm plug on one side of the headphones? Weird..
i wonder if my 4.4 to 4pin xlr adapter would work with the included 4.4mm cable?
MikeypasI believe you have it backwards... From the photos in looks like the 4.4mm DOES connect via 2x 2.5mm (one per ear cup) and the 3.5mm(?) only connects via one 2.5mm to one ear cup.
Cable 1: 6 ft (1.8 m) double-sided TRS single-ended cable (dual-entry)
Cable 2: 6 ft (1.8 m) single-sided TRRRS balanced cable (single-entry)
am I reading this correctly?
balanced cable is single entry, while the SE cable is dual entry. I’m assuming that means balanced cable connects to one side only.
MikeypasMy bad, I was going off the pictures and assuming the bigger 4.4mm was the balanced cable.
Yea, according to description the balanced is the single plug-in.
Weird, wonder why that is.
MikeypasThe cable concept of the OAE1 is very flexible. You can use single sided balanced or unbalaced cables or double sided balanced or unbalanced cables. The sockets for balanced (and unbalanced) signals on the left and on the right side are connected with a balanced over-the-head cable. When the 4.4 to 4 pin XLR is made according to the standards it will work without problems.
AxelGrellHi Axel, I’m very Exocet by this new headphone, why you post an review from audio characteristics , profile and some comparison with other headphones, this will be useful , Regards
Correction: Made in china. Refer to Axel's comment below.
In a video interview Axell said that one of the parts was made in the same factory as the HD800 so possibly Germany. Although I'm not certain. You can find the video in the most recent "story" post.
