I got to check these artisan keycaps out early for a review, and they are absolutely fantastic. They are extremely high quality, and include so much detail in them. They are MT3 profile, fitting the Black Panther keycap set from Drop, and carry over some of the same colors. Both of the mask artisans have a lot of purple in them to match, as well as blue to add some dimension. Here's a quick overview of each separate one:
Black Panther Helmet
This is a 1U artisan keycap that fits where the ESC key would be normally, in R0 or R1 depending on what layout keyboard is being used.
The helmet is contained within the keycap, appearing 3D.
Blues and purples mix with the black and silver of the helmet, with the eyes appearing to almost glitter/light up whenever hit with light.
Killmonger Mask
This artisan is a 2U keycap, fitting where your backspace key would be on R1.
Like the Black Panther helmet, the mask is contained within the keycap, surrounded by blue and purple.
There's a huge amount of detail on the mask, which is made of shades of brown to tan to a light blue, with black portions to shadow.
Gauntlets
This artisan is 2.5U, fitting on the left shift in R4.
Unlike the other two artisans, the gauntlets are surrounded by a tan/silver and black background meant to look like sand.
The gauntlets are also tan/silver, with accents of blue and white to distinguish them. These are a much more muted keycap compared to the other two, but it still stands out so well.
After placing them on a keyboard and using them for some time, I can say that these are extremely well made. They don't appear to heavily attract fingerprints or start to shine from usage, which is great for maintaining the clarity of the keycaps themselves. The stems are a bit tight, which is to be expected, but they easily fit on multiple different MX switches with a bit of correct positioning. They are comfortable to type on, even with keycaps of a different profile than MT3. The detail within each artisan is amazing, showed off by how smooth each keycap is. They appear to have been polished well, and I don't see any inconsistencies within the resin. The stems are consistent, as well.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend these for anyone who likes Black Panther or artisans in general. They are well made, consistent, and clearly high quality. I also love the inclusion of the Killmonger mask, rather than just having the option for the Black Panther helmet. Each one clearly had a lot of thought put into how best to showcase the piece, and I think that was done very well. I also love the different size options, which allows you to mix and match which pieces you want, or you can get them all to compliment your board. If you're a fan of Black Panther or artisans, I think you'll love these, as I have.
Crazy cool artisans
These keycaps are beautiful! I love the Killmonger mask, it's my favorite out of this set, although the
gauntlets and helmet are very detailed and beautiful in their own right.
This is my first set of resin artisans and the only qualm I would have is that the resin distorts the keycaps a bit, the mask suffers the most from this. (the gauntlets look the best mounted, IMO) but it's not a huge issue.
They're still crazy cool.
It's not bad. It does go well with the keycap set but imo, it isn't worth the premium price tag they are asking. For the price, the details on this thing should be much better but you're paying a lot for the Marvel licensing.
