This is so right in so many ways. Just because someone painted the first self portrait doesn't mean everyone after that is ripping them off. These people are ridiculous, idiotic, and childish. People in r/MK generally don't act like this. At the end of the day, people can't seem to mind their own business. People are purchasing this for THEIR keyboard not someone else's.
There are plenty of reason to like this set over DOTS, some people straight up might like rectangular shapes more. BOOM. But it all comes down to personal preference and that's what diversifies the community. We don't need people like GingGing to tell us what is good or not. And honestly, I appreciate Mito for posting this. (by the way I love almost every product you design XD)
Everyone is here for the same reason. To customize THEIR custom keyboard to their liking. Support them. We love to see their finished creations!
Hi Mito,
I'd just like to apologize for the comment I made, I understand that a lot of work goes into these group buys and I didn't mean to be malicious. I still personally think that this is not the most original keyset, but I don't want to yuck anybody else's yum or spread negativity within the hobby. I hope that you can forgive me and good luck with the group buy!
DuellLighting reflection, which is what the set is trying to convey, does not respect "human conventions" such as up and down, left or right. Like explained on the pin post, the essence of the set is how cubic surfaces normally get highlighted on pixel art. In the case of the set, it is as if a lighting source was positioned at northwest of the keyboard.
An ortho kit would have been great. I was planning on buying when I saw this was in the makes, but it hurts to pay that much when half of the caps will be waste. So many R1 novelties that are useless on a 4x12. The most awesome novelties are always R1. Same with laser. When will a legendless orthokit be available in GMK? I’ve passed so many times now because lack of love for us 40%ers
To clarify my comment - as has been said by now, GMK kitting primarily requires a large base kit and then child kits. Drop does offer some in-stock ortho-only sets, but those are very much the exception rather than the rule, and are usually not offered in Group Buy but in-stock due to MOQ requirements.
The "lack of love for 40% users" comment irritated me because, while MiTo could have just ignored 40% users entirely, he added the legends required for GMK Pixel to be accessible to 40% users, which was a wonderful thing to have.
While the remaining keys may not be used by OP, with the way GMK kitting works the reality is that everyone will likely end up with useless keys. Most of us don't use ISO, numpad, or F-row, but because of how GMK kitting usually works, the best option for price/accessibility is to have all they keys together so everyone at least gets what they need.
I do understand that without a whole lot of context my comment could have come off as brash, I hope this clarifies what I meant.
lifeonadkleinI see where you're coming from a bit more now, yeh! Particularly about the function row and numpad keys.
Hopefully the overhead of offering several kit configs is financially viable for both environment and wallet. Maybe there's a middle ground where the small-set-buyer (w/o numpad, ortho etc.) can save a small amount and the remaining difference can pay for the fees of offering more shapes of set (packaging sizes etc.) in order to not waste caps.
No worries, i just thought because of size and weigth......the space bars and decorations should be cheaper shipping that base kit.
But i guess i will pass on this.
R: If your keyboard features MX mount, most likely yes.
What are the keycap sizes?
R: Refer to the images and descriptions on this page.
Similarity with Geon?
R: I started developing the Pixel project during the SA Laser project (2018) when I began to love more and more pixel art, without knowing Geon at all, until a friend of mine linked his Instagram once I revealed to him one of the versions of the project. I proceeded to contact Geon, asked if he had any plans and if I could make this project, he said it was okay and actually enjoyed the Pixel.
Materials, legends?
R: The Pixel project is made with ABS plastic and double shot legends.

If you have any questions regarding the drop, kits you need, etc. just post below and I will help you asap.
Thanks for looking!

I wish the GB community would normalize just selling 60% kits of everything. I know you've done it before with other sets, but it sucks cus I wanna get this set but I already am gonna have half my Genespeed set go to waste, cant have more keys just sitting around.
andythecaogmk pricing is most effective for 100%+ kits, everything else would be far too expensive.
other manufacturers, for example signature plastics, have other price scaling, so other sets can be offered in different combinations.
andythecaoFive years ago I kind of tried, check GMK 3run or more recently (although TKL focused) GMK Hennessey, maybe GMK Laser (M170 Synthwave kit). It’s just not worth it, it ends up being way more costly. With a kit like seen here, you’re paying like $25 for extra coverage for lifetime keyboards. For real, saving $25 now might hurt you later especially once/if you decide to get a new board (which people who buy keycaps seem to do a lot).
