Hey everyone,
The GMK Red Samurai is finally here!
For now, let me explain the name change for the alphas. Nishi (Latin w/ Hiragana) means "west" and Pure Hiragana (Hiragana monolegends) is basically gamers talk, for example, pure STR or pure LUK builds.

These are the custom color selections:
[Previously listed Pantone colors will not be used.]
We'll be working with GMK to get the right colors, so it may change if needed once we get color samples.
-------------------- Update 2/24/18:
I am trying to match the colors on renders from my [IC] and this is what I have so far. Unfortunately, I don't have actual samples for you, but I do have these Pantone chips that I am currently inspecting myself. Pictures were taken with a phone, so it won't have great color accuracy, but I think it will do fine.
1) Under natural sunlight in a room with shade:
2) This is what color you would see without much lighting:
3) Under direct sunlight:
4) Under a white LED lamp at night, it looks fine to me:
So whether you wanted a dark set or a lighter set, it looks like you just have to light it properly, but remember you would see something similar to image #2 without light. If anything, I might go one shade lighter on the red. Now I still won't know for sure without actual keycap samples so the colors can still change, but I hope this helps for the last few days of the drop.

Hey everyone, while you are waiting for your keycaps, here are samples of the keycaps with legends taken with a different phone. This is currently as close as I can get to capturing the actual colors after playing with the camera settings for a bit.

Hmm. Much better than the renders IMO. Actually a number of my friends were not buying due to renders not good enough. Now they are all regretting.

shortbusI still love that Jessica Plum and it has grown to be one of my GMK faves. I agree it depends on lighting. I do love that “crayon” color effect description. I get that effect on a nice bright day, but during the afternoon and well into the evening the purple gets darker. I’ve come to appreciate key changing colors based on the lighting of the environment its in. I’m not sure if this is true with every GMK set. I guess I’ll find out once I get two more gmk sets I’m waiting for at the moment.....

I can respect that decision. I'm actually planning on using Outemu Ice V2 housings on the build, they are completely clear and they reportedly work almost as well as Invyr Panda housings on the Halo stems, to make holyish pandas, the RGB will be visible through the PCB. If in the future someone wants to ship a clear base I'll think about it. I mostly want this board for travel purposes and I think metal is a better choice in that case.

Upon checking the drop today, I was very surprised to see such a dramatic change in progress. I'll be sure to consider your feedback to improve my future creations.
Again, I'd like thank the Massdrop team, GMK, and the mech keys community for the support and making the drop possible. You guys are the real MVPs!!!
As for the final numbers or status of the kits, you'll have to wait for Yanbo to update us on that.

CakirramaRegarding what? Was there an email stating certain kits will not be made or that all kits will be made? The only email I received was one that said the order was placed. I am assuming all kits are being made but it doesn't explicitly say so.

CakirramaAs of right now PBT is limited because the companies that are most competent at it only do dye-sub - dye sub is limited to dark legends on lighter base; some have tried to start working with reverse subbing but it isn't perfected by any means yet.
If someone figures out a way to properly doubleshot PBT and use colours of the level of GMK's ones then that'd be what I'd wanna see, though for the time being that seems fairly utopic.

We have an update on the status of the Massdrop x RedSuns GMK Red Samurai Custom Keycaps. Unfortunately there was a slight delay while getting all the keycaps packaged and we now estimate the keycaps will ship to members the week of August 13.

yeah but it's look pretty decent and I got it for cheap as well (70CAD for Alpha + TKL).
I got that as a BD gift for my brother, he's using a MF82 that I gave him the previous bd (after I talked him out of getting a Reser board lol)

We’re checking in to let you know the Massdrop x RedSuns GMK Red Samurai Custom Keycaps are making their way through production!
The colors are confirmed for the resin mix, and the legends are currently being finalized. Check out the photos below on the colors that were confirmed (note that it's difficult to capture the true colors properly - at least with my camera skills). We’re on track to meet our estimated ship date of July 30, and we’ll update everyone in July with the status of the shipment.
